GRANNY'S ICE CREAM
This is my Grandmother's recipe for ice cream. It's yummy, doesn't require an ice cream maker, very simple and can be made into any flavor of ice cream on the planet.

Steps:
- In a large glass or metal mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add white sugar and vanilla, continuing to beat until soft peaks form. Carefully fold in sour cream until well blended. Fold in any additional flavorings or goodies at this time.
- Place the mixture into the freezer and stir every 30 minutes or so until frozen. This can be made without stirring, but the texture will be icy rather than creamy. If you have an ice cream maker, you can put the ice cream mixture in the maker, and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

GRANDMA MARGARET'S HOMEMADE ICE CREAM
This is the way my grandma always made it...and beware, it's totally fattening but soooo good! Of course, back in the day, she made it in the old crank kind with all the ice and salt...long but fun process that I remember. Me, I have a Cuisinart 2qt electric job from Costco that I love! No ice, no salt, no muss, no fuss. Grandma's recipe as posted actually makes too much for my Cuisinart, so if you're like me, you'll have to scale it down some. Or...just make another batch!

Steps:
- Mix eggs, sugar, vanilla and whipping cream.
- If adding fruit, mash up 2 or 3 cups. I love strawberries or peaches, or you can do any other kind of creative goodies -- peanut butter cups, oreo cookies, whatever. Or, just plain ol vanilla ice cream.
- Grandma says to fill the remainder of container with milk to about 2" from the top, but with my Cuisinart, I don't even have to do that!
- If you have the older fashion kind, start the freezer before adding ice and salt. Don't ask me how much, as grandma passed 8 years ago and mine doesn't require any ice or salt.
- I'm telling you, go to Costco and invest $59 -- best thing I ever did!
- With mine, after 25 minutes I have thee BEST homemade ice cream!
- Enjoy!

MARGARITA ICE CREAM
This is a cinch to make, and easy-easy-easy to eat. It is, now that I come to think of it, in effect a no-churn version of the ice cream in Forever Summer. If you want to serve it in glasses dipped in sugar and salt, by all means do. But it is so good, that even as someone is not a committed ice cream eater and no kind of a drinker, I find I can spoon it straight into my mouth from the container I've chilled it in. In other words: no decorative touches or embellishments are remotely needed. This is truly the express way to dessert-deliriousness.

Steps:
- Pour the lime juice, tequila and orange liqueur into a bowl and stir in the sugar to dissolve.
- Add the cream and then softly whip until thick and smooth but not stiff.
- Spoon into an airtight container to freeze overnight. This ice cream does not need ripening (softening before serving), as it will not freeze too hard and melts speedily and voluptuously.
ICE CREAM MAKER MARGARITAS
Slushy margaritas are just one more thing you can throw together in your ice cream maker. You can even make and chill the sweetened tequila-lime base ahead of time so that your cocktails churn up more quickly.

Steps:
- Combine the sugar and 1/3 cup water in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Whisk together the tequila, lime juice, cooled sugar syrup, orange liqueur and 1 cup cold water in a medium bowl. Freeze until slushy in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions, about 45 minutes (see Cook's Note). Transfer the frozen margaritas to a chilled pitcher. Store in the freezer until ready to serve.
- Fill a small plate with an even layer of salt. Moisten the rims of 4 chilled rocks or wine glasses and press into the salt to rim the edges. Divide the margaritas among the glasses. Serve with lime wedges.
GRANDMA'S DELICIOUS HOMEMADE ICE CREAM
