OKTOBERFEST FOOD IDEAS (TRADITIONAL GERMAN RECIPES FOR A BAVARIAN FEAST)

GERMANFEST CLUB SANDWICH

Steps:

• 1. To assemble, cut the loaf of bread horizontally into three circle, top middle and bottom. Place the bottom of the loaf down on work surface. Spread with red pepper and chipolte spread. Top with pastrami.
• 2. In a medium microwave-safe bowl ,mix together the kraut, bacon and brown sugar. cover and microwave, 4-5 minutes until starts to caramelize. Place a layer of kraut on top of pastrami. Top with half of the cheese slices. Top cheese with the middle layer of bread. Top with pepper rings.
• 3. Place the pork loin on the pepper rings, then top with drained peppers & onions. Top with remaining cheese and chopped greek peperoncini peppers. Place top of the bread on top of the sandwich.
• 4. Carefully place in large panini machine and grill 5-6 minutes, then remove to work surface and cut into 4 pieces. Place back on the grill to brown 3-4 more minutes, serve, or wrap the sandwiches in foil to transport to picnic or tailgate !

CLUB SANDWICH

Steps:

• Spread mayonnaise on one side of a piece of toast; add layer of American cheese, ham, two slices of tomato, two leaves of lettuce, and two pieces of bacon.
• Spread mayonnaise on second piece of toast and place on top, mayo side down.
• Spread mayonnaise on top of that second piece of toast.
• Layer Monterey Jack cheese, the rest of the tomatoes, lettuce, turkey and bacon on top.
• Spread mayonnaise on third piece of toast and place on the stack mayo side down.
• Slice the sandwich in quarters diagonally.
• Skewers or long toothpicks may be used to hold all the layers together.
