  • Fruits. All kinds of fruits are beneficial for gout sufferers. You need to consider apples and cherries as the best of them all. Cherries contain anthocyanins, a compound that has anti-inflammatory properties (gout is an inflammatory disease).
  • Vegetables. Almost all vegetables except spinach, asparagus, and mushrooms. These three are high in purines and as such should be avoided. All other types of vegetables are either beneficial or neutral.
  • Nuts. Meat, especially red meat must be avoided if you suffer from gout. But, you will need something to get that protein! Nuts do contain protein but there are no purines inside.

  • Berries. Berries are also an excellent choice. Yes, you can consume them as well and in any amount you like. My favourite type of berries are blueberries which are also in antioxidants and they fight inflammation perfectly.
  • Citrus fruits. All citrus fruits like lemons, oranges and also grapefruits are OK. They contain high levels of vitamin C we do need, however oranges contain high amount of fructose so eat them in moderation.
