Easy Cheese Nuggets image

These are so good! Crisp on the outside and melting cheese on the inside! This recipe was originally from Betty Crocker. Servings depends totally on how large or small you cut your cheese. I prefer Monterrey Jack.

1 lb swiss cheese or 1 lb mozzarella cheese, cut in about 1/2 inch nuggets
vegetable oil (for frying)
1 cup Bisquick
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4-1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
marinara sauce (optional)

Steps:

  • Place cheese nuggets in a pan and put in freezer for at least one hour.
  • Mix bisquick,paprika, garlic powder, milk and egg until smooth.
  • Dip cheese into batter,covering cheese completely.
  • Fry in 2 inches of oil heated to 375 degrees in a frying pan or in an electric skillet.
  • Fry about 1-2 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Let stand 3 minutes before serving.
  • Serve with marinara sauce.(recipe #153093).

1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 package (10 ounces) extra sharp cheddar cheese
2 eggs, lightly beaten
Oil for deep-fat frying

Steps:

  • In a shallow bowl, combine bread crumbs and sesame seeds. In another shallow bowl, lightly beat the eggs. Cut cheese into 3/4-in. cubes; dip in eggs, then coat with crumb mixture. Refrigerate for 15 minutes or until coating is set. , In an electric skillet or deep-fat fryer, heat 1 in. oil to 375°. Fry cheese cubes for 1-2 minutes or until browned. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

8 ounces string cheese sticks, room temperature
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
Extra-light olive oil, for deep frying
Bottled chunky marinara sauce, for dipping

Steps:

  • Cut cheese sticks into thirds. Place flour on a plate and season it with salt and pepper. Put the egg in a small bowl. Place bread crumbs on a plate.
  • Add cheese pieces to flour and toss to coat. Dip in egg, and then roll in bread crumbs. Arrange breaded cheese in a single layer on a tray or baking sheet. Let stand for 15 to 30 minutes. Pour oil into large skillet to a depth of 1-inch, and heat over medium-high heat. When oil is hot, carefully drop cheese pieces in, a few at a time, and fry until golden, about 30 seconds. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve with your favorite chunky marinara sauce for dipping.

2 cups Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1 cup vegetable oil for frying, or as needed

Steps:

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or waxed paper.
  • Pour bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and Cheddar cheese into 3 separate piles on the prepared baking sheet. Combine milk and egg in a bowl and stir until well combined.
  • Roll cream cheese into 1-inch balls. Split each ball in half and place sharp Cheddar inside of cheese ball; put it back together and shape cream cheese around the Cheddar cheese. Roll it in Parmesan and Cheddar cheeses until the outside is completely covered. Dip in the milk mixture and roll in bread crumbs until completely covered. Repeat with remaining cream cheese balls.
  • Heat oil in a large saucepan to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Drop cheese balls in the hot oil and allow to get brown on all sides, 3 to 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

1 quart vegetable oil
1 1/2 cup buttermilk, divided
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 pound of cheese curds (or more, or less - really as much as you are willing to eat)
1 egg
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup Panko bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Heat oil on stove over medium to medium high heat while preparing the curds. In a small bowl add 1/2 cup of buttermilk. Set aside. In a third bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt and cayenne pepper, mix well. Take curds and dip into buttermilk. Then dip into flour mixture and set aside. Do this to all of the curds. Add 1 cup of buttermilk, water and egg to the flour mixture and mix well. In another bowl add bread crumbs and set aside. Dip floured curds into liquid buttermilk batter and remove with a slotted spoon. Place curds into bread crumbs and cover. Once oil is ready {test oil with the end of a wooden spoon, if bubbles form around soon, then it's hot and ready} place battered curds into hot oil and cook 2 minutes, then flip and cook another 2 minutes until golden color. Remove and place on a plate with paper towels. As soon as they are cool enough to eat ~ DEVOUR!
