  • Kitchen Should NOT be at the Center of the House. As previously mentioned, kitchen is filled with fire. With the kitchen at the center, it symbolizes “fire attacks the heart”, with the center of the house being the “heart” because of its central location (also not the best placement for wood tables).
  • Kitchen is NOT Suitable at Front of House. The kitchen is best situated at the back of the house, just as how the bedroom should be at the back of the house.
  • Kitchen is NOT Suitable Outside of House. As mentioned earlier, the kitchen’s function as the production of prosperity. Having your main kitchen outside of the house will make it hard for the Qi of prosperity to gather.
  • Avoid Kitchen at a Specific Northwest Section. To be specific, the kitchen should not be located between 300 and 330 degrees Northwest of the house (according to the compass).
  • Avoid Kitchen at a Specific South Section. To be specific, the kitchen shouldn’t be located between 165 and 195 degrees South of the house. If so, just make sure the stove isn’t within that section.
  • Avoid Kitchen at a Specific North Section. To be specific, the kitchen should be located between 345 and 15 degrees North of the house. If so, just make sure the stove isn’t within that section.
  • Kitchen Should NOT Face the Front Door. Technically, this applies if the kitchen STOVE faces the front door. However, I have included it here because some experts will say that the kitchen DOOR should not face the front door, which would apply only to the architectural design of certain countries.
  • Kitchen Location Based on Your Kua. I won’t get into the details here because it can get quite specific and extensive. In general, the kitchen’s Fire energies has the ability to suppress negative Qi because of its cooking and fire energies.
  • Kitchen Location Based on the House Kua. Again, I won’t get into the details. Just like a person’s Kua, the house also has its own Kua determined by its sitting and facing direction.
  • Kitchen Location Based on the Bagua. The kitchen brings strong fire element, and its strength is much greater than colors or shapes that are used to boost the Fire energy.

  • The Stove and its Location. The stove represents your resources, career, and how you can nourish yourself to have the most success in the world. One of the most important things to consider when it comes to your stove is the commanding position.
  • Double Your Burners. In feng shui, more stove burners represents more opportunities and sources of wealth. This in turn translates to more prosperity and success in your career.
  • Rotate Your Burners. The stove (and so the burners) represent your wealth and resources. Most of us have a go-to burner that we use without even thinking about it.
  • Quartz in the Refrigerator. Your refrigerator is also an important appliance in your kitchen because it represents how you nourish yourself. One way to enhance this is to place a clear quartz crystal inside with the intention to amplify the nourishment that your food provides you.
  • Deep Clean. This is one tip that you are probably already aware of, whether you are putting it into practice or not! Think about how it feels to open a clean, organized fridge vs. a messy fridge full of expired food.
  • Broken or Chipped Items. Remove broken or chipped items, like mugs and plates, from your home. Broken items translate to broken energy and are thought to bring bad luck.
  • Clear the Space with Salt. Occasionally you can use salt and water to mindfully wipe down your kitchen. Salt is a crystal and it can absorb negative, stagnant energies.
  • Use Non-Toxic Cleaners. Many common cleaning supplies have harmful and toxic chemicals, which should be avoided whenever possible. You want to be especially mindful of your cleaning supplies in the kitchen, where you are preparing and consuming food.
  • Best Colors for Feng Shui. In general, white is the best color for kitchens because it represents purity and cleanliness. It also offsets the vibrant rainbow colors that you find in food.

14 BEST FENG SHUI KITCHEN TIPS, ACCORDING TO THE EXPERTS

From goodhousekeeping.com

  • Follow the kitchen triangle rule. "A good kitchen design is based on a traditional triangle model — with the sink, refrigerator and range making up each point of the triangle," says Emmer.
  • Create balance. "I often ask clients how they work within their kitchen, and then will organize and design the space accordingly," says Caren Rideau, founder of The Kitchen Design Group.
  • Bring in the five elements. The five elements are the very foundation of Feng Shui. "The key to creating harmony in the kitchen is how you arrange the elements," says Gomez.
  • Place the kitchen at the back of the house. "We can't always decide where each room in a house or apartment will be in relation to the others, but if you're working with new construction or doing extensive renovations, ideally the kitchen will be in the back of the house," says Emmer, who also notes that a kitchen shouldn't be at your home's entry point.
  • Thoughtfully place the stove. "A stove is best located where you can see people as you cook," says Gomez. However, if your stove forces you to have your back to the room (which is often the case), consider hanging a mirror above the stove so you can see behind you.
  • Create a balance of Yin and Yang. “Light is Yang energy in Feng Shui and darkness is Yin energy,” says Emmer. “Yang energy in the kitchen keeps the cook motivated, helps them see all their ingredients and read recipes.
  • Stay organized and clutter-free. "Clean, clear clutter and organize everything," suggests Feng Shui Master Dana Claudat. "While a tidy kitchen on the surface is fantastic to see, a fully organized kitchen — pantry, refrigerator, drawers, cabinets — is unmatched in its vibrant, resonant energy.
  • Layer lighting. "Lighting is important in creating a Feng Shui kitchen," says Rideau. "Natural lighting can be uplifting, along with different levels of illumination" — which means including task lighting, accent lighting and ambient/general lighting.
  • Find the right decor. "There are so many elements that can be used to add dimension to a kitchen, while incorporating the elements of Feng Shui," says Gomez.
  • Concentrate on wood and earth elements. There is already a great deal of water, fire and metal elements in kitchens, so Claudat suggests design focused on wood and earth energies.
