6 cups sliced pears
½ cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 cups all-purpose flour, or more as needed
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup butter, softened

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Spread pears to cover bottom of the baking dish; drizzle with melted butter and maple syrup.
  • Stir flour, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract together in a bowl. Cut softened butter into flour mixture until mixture resembles coarse crumbs, adding more flour if necessary. Sprinkle topping over pears.
  • Bake in preheated oven until pears are bubbling and topping is crisp, about 30 minutes.

1 teaspoon grated orange zest

1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup old-fashioned oatmeal
1/2 pound (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, diced

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Peel, core, and cut the pears and apples into large chunks. Place the fruit in a large bowl and add the zests, juices, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour into a 9 by 12 by 2-inch oval baking dish.
  • For the topping: Combine the flour, sugars, salt, oatmeal, and butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on low speed for 1 minute, until the mixture is in large crumbles. Sprinkle evenly over the fruit, covering the fruit completely.
  • Place the baking dish on a sheet pan and bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour, until the top is brown and the fruit is bubbly. Serve warm.

1 TBSP Cornstarch
1½ tsp Cinnamon, divided
½ cup All-purpose Flour

4 TBSP cold Butter, diced
½ cup Muesli or Granola
½ cup Walnuts, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Combine pears (that is 6 cups after peeling, coring, and dicing) and lemon juice in a 2-quart baking dish; toss the pears to coat with the lemon juice.
  • Combine sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  • Pour sugar mixture over pears in a baking dish, toss with a fork to coat.
  • Combine all-purpose flour, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a separate bowl.
  • Add 4 tablespoons of cold, diced butter to the brown sugar-flour mixture. Cut in butter until your mixture resembles coarse pebbles.

1/3 cup packed brown sugar (or sub coconut sugar)

1/4 cup butter, melted (or sub vegan butter or coconut oil)
For the crisp:
6 medium Barlett pears, cut into 1/4th inch slices
1/4 cup pure maple syrup

1/2 tablespoon arrowroot or tapioca starch

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Generously grease an 8x8 baking pan or 9 inch skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • To make the topping: Combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and walnuts in a large bowl until well-combined. Pour in the melted butter and use your hands to combine until the mixture becomes crumbly and resembles wet sand. You may need to use your hands/fingers to form into nice crumbles. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge until ready to use.
  • To make the filling: place pears, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and arrowroot starch in a large bowl and toss to combine. Take 1/3 cup of the topping mixture and toss with the pear mixture. Place the pear mixture in a prepared pan and sprinkle evenly with the remaining topping.
  • Bake the crisp on a baking sheet (just in case the filling bubbles over!) for 45 minutes-1 hour, or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling. Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350*F
