- Put chow mein noodles into a large bowl. Pour marshmallow mixture over the chow mein noodles; stir to coat.

Steps:
- Melt chocolate and peanut butter in the microwave. Heat for 1 minute and stir. Continue to heat for 15-second intervals until the chocolate is fully melted.
- Then add the chow mein noodles in a large mixing bowl and pour the chocolate and peanut butter over the top. Stir until all the noodles are completely coated.
- Using a large tablespoon, drop onto wax paper. Wait about a minute or two and form into nests. Press the end of the spoon a little into the nest to create a dip for the little eggs to rest. But make sure there is no hole on the bottom.
- Place three chocolate eggs on top before it hardens. You have some time here, so no need to rush.
- Let the little nests harden. Pro Tip: place them in the fridge or freezer to harden quicker. Once hardened they are ready to eat.
BUTTERSCOTCH BIRD NESTS
Part candy, part cookie, these candy nests are easy to make and the crunchy, salty pretzels are delicious with the sweet butterscotch coating. Kids can help by breaking the pretzels, scooping the nests and arranging the eggs in them.

Steps:
- Heat a large, dry saute pan over medium heat. Add the almond slivers and toast, shaking the pan every minute, until they are fragrant and begin to darken in areas, 3 to 5 minutes.
- Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Melt the almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl according to package instructions. Stir in the butterscotch chips. Microwave another 30 seconds, and then stir until smooth.
- Stir in the almonds, pretzels and coconut, coating evenly. Drop the mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time, onto the prepared baking sheets. Nestle in 1 or 2 of the mini eggs. If the mixture starts to cool and become too firm to work with, microwave for 30 seconds and stir gently. Let the nests cool at room temperature until solid.
EASTER BIRD NESTS
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Prepare a muffin tin by spraying it thoroughly with nonstick cooking spray .
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the marshmallows and butter. Microwave for 1 minute then remove and stir vigorously. If the marshmallows are not fully melted, microwave for an additional 30 to 45 seconds until the marshmallows are melted. Stir the marshmallow and butter mixture until it is smooth and homogenous.
- Add the vanilla extract and chow mein noodles and stir until the noodles are completely and evenly covered with the mixture. Allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes until it is cool enough to handle, but still warm enough to manipulate.
- Using a large spoon, evenly divide the chow mein noodles among the 12 muffin tin holes.
- Spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray, and mold the noodles into a nest shape, indenting the center and pressing the edges up the sides of the tin.
- Place the nests in the refrigerator to set while you prepare the coconut. Place the coconut in a small bowl and add a drop or two of green food coloring. Using your hands, rub the coconut together until the green color is well-dispersed. (Wear plastic gloves if you don't want to get your hands green-the coloring usually washes out right away, though.)
- Sprinkle the coconut on top of the nests. Add 2 or 3 eggs to each nest, and top them with a Peep. If you are going to be transporting these, you can melt a few chocolate chips and use the melted chocolate to secure the eggs and Peeps to the nest. Otherwise, you can leave them loose and allow people to eat them piece by piece.
- Allow the marshmallow mixture to completely set before removing the nests. To remove them, slide a knife around the sides of the tin and gently insert it under the bottom of the nest to pull it out.
- Enjoy.

EASTER BIRDS NESTS (PEANUT BUTTER FREE)
I got this wonderful recipe from Dina de Leon on my mom's website that I go to. She posted it in a thread after asking about using PB in the recipe since it was going to her DC's school. After she posted it, I asked if I could add it to my online cookbook. She said yes so here it is. Also, while I'm posting the pic of these super cute nests, I can't take credit for it. Dina also took the picture. Enjoy!

BIRD NESTS
Fun Spring Treats! Kids love them. Use a 6 or 12 cup muffin tin depending on desired size of nests. We made only 6 nest with this recipe so we could overlap the top and give an "edge" for our bird to sit on. You could serve these right away or wrap them in a pretty cellophane bag and give them as a gift.
