FESTIVE DIPPED PRETZEL RODS

Festive Dipped Pretzel Rods image

How to make festive dipped pretzel rods for any occasion or holiday. See video and tips at the bottom.

Provided by Erlene - My Pinterventures

Categories     Dessert

Number Of Ingredients 4

Bag pretzel rods (more bags may be needed depending on how many rods you want to make)
Chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, or mint chips (use all or just one of these flavors or different flavors)*
1/2 tsp. vegetable oil per bag of chocolate or mint chips
Optional - festive sprinkles, crushed cookies/candy cane, toffee bits, nuts, edible glitter, etc...

Steps:

  • Prepare a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Make sure the baking sheet is small enough to fit into your freezer. Optional - Place the sheet into your freezer before starting and this can help the chocolate harden quicker.
  • In a microwave safe tall cup (coffee mugs work well), add candy chips and oil. Microwave for 30 seconds on high. Stir and microwave for another 30 seconds. Stir and microwave for another 20 seconds. This helps make sure it's nicely melted and will heat up the cup to help keep the chocolate chips viscous.
  • Take a pretzel rod and dip it into the melted candy, leaving about 2" to 3" of the pretzel rod uncovered (see video below). Let the excess drip off and twirl it around in a circle or back and worth in the cup. This helps remove some of the coating. Place on the prepared baking sheet. If you do not remove enough excess melted chocolate, you will get pooling around the pretzel rod. See the pretzel rod on the right in the next image.
  • If using sprinkles, I like to do the same type in small batches. Continue step 3 until you have about 5-6 pretzel rods. Add sprinkles over top of the pretzel rods before it starts to harden. Continue dipping and decorating pretzels until you have the desired amount of decorated pretzels. Place in the freezer for 2 - 3 minutes to harden.
  • If leaving plain, do step 3 until all the pretzels are dipped and place in the freezer for 2-3 minutes to harden.
  • When the candy dip is low, it will be difficult to continue to dip the pretzel rods. I suggest using a chopstick to drizzle the remaining dip over some pretzel rods or regular pretzels (old tyme pretzels shown).
  • Place pretzel rods in gift bags or a holiday container if giving as gifts. Or store in an airtight container in fridge for up to 3 weeks or the freezer for up to a year. Of course, they'll be gobbled up way before that.

CRAZY DIPPED PRETZELS AND CHIPS

Crazy Dipped Pretzels and Chips image

A sweet and salty combination recipe from Carnation. Easy enough for kids. Dip, dunk, drizzle and sprinkle as you please. Makes for a pretty small batch; doubles easily, but do not microwave more than 2 cups (12 ounces) of morsels at one time. Cooking time is chill time.

Provided by gailanng

Categories     Dessert

Time 25m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup milk chocolate or 1 cup white chocolate chips
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
16 pretzel rods, pretzel twists, whole-wheat pretzel sticks or 16 rippled potato chips
semi sweet miniature chocolate chip
white chocolate miniature chocolate chip
candy sprinkles, of choice

Steps:

  • Line baking sheets with wax paper.
  • Microwave 1 cup morsels and vegetable shortening in small, dry, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on MEDIUM-HIGH (70%) power for 1 minute; STIR. The morsels may retain some of their original shape. If necessary, microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until morsels are melted.
  • Dip chips and/or pretzels into melted morsels, tilting bowl to easily dip. (I use a measuring cup.) Use side of bowl to remove excess. Place on prepared baking sheets. Sprinkle with Toppers. Refrigerate for 15 - 20 minutes or until set. Store in airtight container at room temperture. Potato chips are best when eaten within a few hours of preparation.
  • Pretzels and chips may be dipped and drizzled in any variety of melted chocolate for different looks. For example, dip them in semi-sweet chocolate and drizzle them with melted white morsels. Or dip them in milk chocolate and drizzle them with melted semi-sweet chocolate. Don't forget the sprinkles--that's the best part!

HALLOWEEN CHOCOLATE DIPPED PRETZELS

Halloween Chocolate Dipped Pretzels image

Salty pretzels meet melted white chocolate in a Halloween-inspired treat even grown-up goblins can like.

Provided by My Food and Family

Categories     Home

Time 20m

Yield 12 pretzels

Number Of Ingredients 3

10-12 large pretzel rods
6 oz. BAKER'S White Chocolate
Optional for decoration: mini chocolate chips, chocolate chips, candy corn, sprinkles, food coloring

Steps:

  • Chop BAKER'S Premium White Chocolate into small pieces and place in a microwave-safe glass or bowl. Melt it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds. Another option is to use a double boiler and then pour the melted chocolate into a bowl after it is melted.
  • Once the chocolate is melted, dip the pretzel rods down into it and use a spoon or spatula to cover all but the lower 1-2 inches.
  • Let the dipped pretzels sit on wax paper or a silpat mat (on the counter or in the refrigerator) for a few minutes to cool/harden.
  • Decorate as desired. For example, add/roll in sprinkles or rewarm the remaining chocolate to soften it back up and pour into a decorator bag or plastic baggie. Attach decorator tip or snip off one corner of the baggie and pipe white chocolate back and forth and add in chocolate chips as eyes to look like a mummy.
  • Let cool for 1-2 hours, or until chocolate is hard. Store in an air-tight container at room temperature.
