Love casseroles but want to mix things up a bit? Take classic string bean casserole to the next level with this green bean mushroom casserole. Made with butter, cream of mushroom soup, French's Crispy Fried Onions, and a dash of white wine, this crunchy casserole will have the entire Thanksgiving dinner table asking for more.

1 oz sliced fresh mushrooms
2 tbsp butter
10 1/2 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
3/4 cup half n' half cream or milk
1 tbsp white wine
6 cups green beans, cooked
2 cups Original Crispy Fried Onions

Steps:

  • COOK mushrooms in butter in skillet until golden.
  • MIX soup, cream, wine, mushrooms, beans and 1 cup Crispy Fried Onions in 2-qt. baking dish.
  • BAKE at 350°F for 30 min. or until hot. Stir. Top with remaining onions. Bake 5 min.

2 (15 ounce) cans cut green beans, drained
1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 (2 ounce) jar pimientos, drained
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1/2 cup sliced almonds

Steps:

  • Place drained green beans in small (1 1/2 quart) casserole dish.
  • Melt together mushrooms soup, cheese, pimentos and mustard.
  • Add drained mushrooms.
  • Pour over green beans.
  • Top with sliced almonds.
  • Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until heated through.

  • Drain beans and put in a 9 X 13 dish.
  • Add mushroom soup and soy sauce.
  • Mix well and top with fried onions.
  • Bake in a 350 degree oven until onions are golden brown.

2 cups Minute Rice, prepared as directed
2 cans green beans
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup Kraft Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 cup French's French Fried Onions

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. In a 13x9 spray with cooking spray. Mix all ingredients in a bowl except the onion.
  • Evenly spread into the dish and sprinkle onions on top.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes -- just until it is heated all the way through and cheese is melted.

3 shallots, sliced thin
salt
pepper
3 tablespoons flour
5 tablespoons vegetable oil
10 ounces mushrooms, stems discarded and caps sliced 1/4 inch thick
2 tablespoons butter
1 onion, minced
2 garlic cloves, pressed (or minced garlic)
1 1/2 lbs green beans, trimmed
3 sprigs fresh thyme
2 bay leaves
3/4 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup chicken broth or 3/4 cup vegetable broth

Steps:

  • In a small bowl toss together shallots, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon pepper and 2 tablespoons flour. Set aside.
  • In a skillet heat 3 tablespoon oil over medium high heat; add shallots and cook until golden and crisp (5 minutes).
  • Transfer shallots with the oil to baking sheet lined with paper towels.
  • Wipe out skillet and return to medium high heat, adding remaining oil (2 tablespoons), mushrooms and 1/4 teaspoon salt, cooking stirring until browned (8 - 10 minutes). Transfer to plate and set aside.
  • Wipe out skillet and heat butter over medium heat, adding onion when butter melts, cooking stirring occasionally until edges brown (2 minutes).
  • Stir in garlic and remaining flour (1 tablespoon), green beans, thyme and bay leaves.
  • Stir in cream, broth, increasing heat to medium high, cover and cook until beans are tender (4-5 minutes).
  • Stir in mushrooms, continuing to cook uncovered until beans are tender and sauce thickens (4-5 minutes). Remove from heat.
  • Discard bay leaves and thyme, season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer to serving dish, sprinkling with reserved shallots.
