Here's what you need: sweet rice flour, cornstarch, water, chocolate chip, oil

Number Of Ingredients 5

¾ cup sweet rice flour
½ tablespoon cornstarch
½ cup water
chocolate chip
oil, for frying

Steps:

  • Combine the sweet rice flour, cornstarch, and water in a mixing bowl.
  • Turn out on table and knead to form a ball of dough.
  • Grab a ping pong size of dough, create a well and fill with chocolate chips.
  • Wrap the dough around the chocolate chips and form into a ball. Make sure to seal well and push out any air pockets. If you don't push out air pockets, they will pop and burst while frying.
  • Deep fry until the outside is crispy and the mochi balls start floating.
  • Enjoy!

I found this in my mother's recipes and it is so simple and a real crowd pleaser!! 8) (Prep time includes refrigerating time).

Number Of Ingredients 12

fine dry breadcrumb
6 1/2 ounces crabmeat
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon butter
2 beaten eggs
1/2 teaspoon onion, minced
1/2 teaspoon finely chopped parsley
1/2 teaspoon mustard
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 dash pepper

Steps:

  • Melt the butter, and blend in the flour, then milk.
  • Cook until thickened, stir continuously.
  • Cut the crabmeat into small pieces, removing fiber.
  • Combine crabmeat with the spices, onion, parsley, and Worcestershire to cream sauce.
  • Lightly sprinkle the breadcrumbs on bottom of pan.
  • Spread the mixture in pan and chill for 1/2 hour.
  • When chilled, mold the mixture into small balls and roll in fine bread crumbs.
  • Then dip in beaten egg, and re-coat in crumbs.
  • Fry in deep fat about 350F, or until lightly browned.
  • Drain on paper towels, stick tooth-picks in and serve!

Cooked, mashed sweet potatoes are molded around brown sugar and coconut, rolled in sesame seeds and deep fried in this unique snack.

¾ pound sweet potatoes-- cooked, peeled and mashed
4 teaspoons cornstarch, divided
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon water
1 cup shredded coconut
½ cup brown sugar
¾ cup sesame seeds
1 ½ quarts oil for deep frying

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, knead together potatoes, 2 teaspoons cornstarch, salt and water to form a stiff dough. In a separate bowl, combine coconut and brown sugar. Form potato dough into small balls; make a well in the center and fill with coconut mixture; close up hole and reshape balls. Roll in sesame seeds, then in remaining cornstarch.
  • Heat oil in deep-fryer or deep, heavy-bottomed pan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Fry balls in oil until golden. Drain on paper towels. Serve.
