WHAT CAN YOU CLEAN WITH DAWN POWERWASH? 12 ITEMS EXPERTS …

From homesandgardens.com
  • Cleaning garden tools. Cleaning garden tools is not the easiest of tasks, but it must be done to keep them sharp and efficient for longer. Viktor Holas, cleaning and DIY specialist and founder of home improvement site SimplySwider (opens in new tab) uses Dawn Powerwash to help break through dried dirt and sticky sap with ease.
  • Freshening up shoes. One way of freshening up footwear is to wash shoes in the washing machine, but if you can't wash sneakers in the machine, then Dawn Powerwash could be the perfect solution for dried-on grime, tough stains, and even bad odors.
  • Ridding window tracks of oil and grime. When cleaning windows it can be easy to forget about the tracks and the inside of the frame. Given that we don't see it or look too closely at it that often, it is a commonly missed spot – making it one of the dirtiest places in your home.
  • Dissolving stubborn kitchen grease. When cleaning a kitchen, sometimes homemade kitchen cleaners don’t quite cut through baked-on grease and tough oil marks – especially if you are a regular home cook.
  • Removing stains from clothes and linens. Greasy stains on clothes are notoriously difficult to remove, even after putting them through a laundry cycle or two.
  • Cleaning barbecues. Cleaning grills and cleaning grill grates can be messy, and sometimes require hard scrubbing to remove charred food and burnt grease.
  • Polishing stainless steel appliances and fixtures. Stainless steel is not always as ‘stainless’ as the name suggests, and kitchen and bathroom faucets can quickly become coated in limescale, watermarks, and other deposits such as toothpaste or food particles.
  • Removing stains from carpets and rugs. While you shouldn’t have to clean area rugs or deep clean carpets more than once or twice a year, spot-cleaning marks and stains can be useful throughout the year.
  • Cleaning dried food from appliances and dishes. Given its original application as dish soap, it should be obvious that it can be used on appliances and food dishes in and around the kitchen.
  • Removing acidic stains from kitchen utensils. Staple acidic foods like citrus fruits or tomatoes can leave unsightly stains on cutting boards and knives if not washed immediately.

30 USES FOR DAWN DISH SOAP BESIDES WASHING DISHES

From thekitchn.com
  • Spiff up patio furniture. Outdoor chairs, tables, and kiddie pools that have gotten dirty over the summer or even mossy over the winter clean up fast.
  • Shine up your dirty grill. For greasy, caked-on grill grates, just mix 1/2 cup baking soda with enough Dawn to make a thick paste. Scrape the big debris off your grill grates, then coat them with the mixture, and let sit for 30 minutes.
  • Wash off the pavers. Stone or cement pavers marred with bird poop? Moss? Sticky residue from messy trees? Just wet the surface well, mix 1/4 cup of Dawn with one gallon warm water, and use a brush to scrub it away.
  • Whip up a DIY, non-toxic weed spray. Mix one gallon white vinegar, one tablespoon Dawn, and one cup of salt in a garden sprayer. Or cut the recipe down and mix the solution in a spray bottle for smaller jobs.
  • Wipe grime from garden and automotive tools. Don’t put your tools away muddy or greasy. Mix one teaspoon Dawn with one gallon water, and use a sponge or rag to wash away the gunk.
  • Rinse off tire rims. Using Dawn to wash a car won’t hurt it, but keep in mind it will strip away any wax and leave it unprotected, which is why car experts don’t recommend it.
  • Wash vinyl siding. Eliminate dirt and moss from your vinyl siding, and make it look like new again. Mix one part Dawn to 10 parts water and use a soft automotive brush to apply it and scrub the grime away.
  • Eliminate bugs from your plants. Dish soap dissolves the protective coating on bugs, such as aphids, mites, and ants, causing them to dry out and die.
  • Mix a DIY garden spray. Neem oil is a great way to kill garden pests without damaging plants, but it needs an emulsifier to blend with water. Enter: Dawn!
  • Wash off oil stains on driveways. If the oil has puddled, sprinkle non-clumping cat litter or baking soda to soak it up first. After removing the solids, apply Dawn directly on to the stain.
