Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburgers image

This Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburgers recipe is packed full of flavor and is one of the juiciest hamburgers I've had yet. I love the french fried onions on top!

Provided by Julie Clark

Categories     Main Dish

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 ½ pounds ground chuck
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
2 teaspoons Worchestire sauce
4-8 slices cheddar cheese
sliced tomatoes
french fried onions ((or sliced red onions))
cooked bacon slices
¼ cup BBQ sauce
lettuce
4 burger buns

  • In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef with seasonings and Worchestire sauce. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Form 4 large patties with the ground beef and set to the side.

  • To assemble burgers, add lettuce to the top of the bottom bun, then a burger, then onions, tomatoes and bacon. Spread about a tablespoon of BBQ sauce over the bottom of the top bun.
  • Close the burgers and serve.

THE BEST BACON CHEESEBURGER

The Best Bacon Cheeseburger image

While we love a grilled burger, this one is our go-to for all seasons. Instead of making a typical patty, we smash the meat in a super-hot cast-iron pan to get crispy, ruffled edges. Once you smash your burgers this way, you'll never go back! We top them with all the fixings, including our perfectly balanced special sauce. It's what we consider an iconic burger.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 25m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
2 tablespoons pickle relish
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
8 slices thick-cut bacon
4 sesame seed hamburger buns, split
2 pounds ground beef (80-percent lean)
Kosher salt
4 thin slices sharp white Cheddar
4 thin slices red onion
8 thin slices tomato
1/4 head iceberg lettuce, shredded

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish and vinegar in a small bowl; set aside.
  • Working in batches if necessary, add the bacon to a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Cook, flipping halfway through, until crisp and golden, about 10 minutes. Transfer the bacon to a nonstick baking sheet. Discard the bacon fat (or save for another use) and wipe the skillet clean but do not wash. Heat over medium-high heat until very hot, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the buns split-side up to the baking sheet with the bacon and bake until the buns are toasted, about 5 minutes.
  • Loosely form the beef into 4 balls. Add one ball of beef to the skillet and press firmly to flatten with a large flat metal spatula for 10 seconds, then gently remove the spatula. Sprinkle the patty generously with salt; repeat with the remaining beef balls, cooking in batches if necessary. Let cook, undisturbed, until well browned on the bottoms, 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the patties, sprinkle with more salt and top each with a slice of Cheddar. Continue cooking until the cheese is melted around the edges and the bottoms are browned, about 2 more minutes.
  • Spread the mayonnaise mixture on the bun tops. Serve the patties on the bottom buns topped with the bacon, onion, tomato and lettuce.

Time 1h

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 19

For the barbecue sauce:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 red onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup apricot preserves
3 tablespoons yellow mustard
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
For the burgers:
2 1/2 pounds ground beef chuck
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1 red onion, sliced into rings
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
6 slices monterey jack or pepper jack cheese
6 sesame seed hamburger buns, split
2 avocados, sliced

Steps:

  • Make the barbecue sauce: Heat the vegetable oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring, until softened, about 4 minutes. Add the chili powder and cook, stirring, until toasted, about 1 minute. Stir in the ketchup, preserves, mustard, vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a blender and puree until smooth; let cool to room temperature.
  • Make the burgers: Combine the ground beef and 3 tablespoons of the prepared barbecue sauce in a bowl; mix with your hands until just combined. Form the meat into six 1/2-inch-thick patties; season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Preheat a grill to medium. Toss the onion with 1 tablespoon of the barbecue sauce and the vegetable oil. Grill (use a grill basket if you have one), turning occasionally, until lightly charred, about 8 minutes.
  • Transfer 1/2 cup of the remaining barbecue sauce to a separate bowl for brushing. Increase the grill temperature to medium high and grill the patties, brushing with the barbecue sauce and flipping occasionally, about 8 minutes for medium rare; top with the cheese during the last minute and cover to melt. Toast the buns on the grill. Serve the burgers on the buns; top with the grilled onions, avocado slices and more barbecue sauce.

Categories     Meat

Time 30m

Yield 5 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

10 slices bacon
1 1/4 lbs ground beef
5 hamburger buns
5 slices American cheese
1 whole diced vidalia onion
salt & pepper
1/2 cup sweet baby rays barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons gourmet burger seasoning

Steps:

  • In a frying pan, start cooking the bacon. While the bacon is frying, cut up the onion and set aside. Finish cooking the bacon and remove and put on paper towels.
  • Butter the buns and set aside.
  • Drain the skillet that has the bacon grease into a bowl and set aside. (you will use this pan for the burgers).
  • Make 5 patties out of the ground beef and place in the skillet. Fry on medium heat until cooked thoroughly.
  • In the meantime in another skillet, lightly toast the buns. Set aside.
  • By this time the burgers should be ¾ of the way done, add cheese to the top of the burgers to melt. Put the burgers on a paper towel whenever finished.
  • In the meantime, pour a little bacon grease in the same skillet used for the buns and add the onions and burger seasoning and saute for up to 3 minutes. Add the BBQ sauce directly to the onions and heat for about 1 minute.
  • Dress your burgers, add the patty and cross the bacon on top then add the BBQ onion mixture. Serve right away.

  • Place the chopped bacon in the freezer for about 20 minutes or until very firm. Transfer the bacon to a mini prep food processor and pulse until the bacon is very fine. (freezing makes it easier to achieve the fine texture.)
  • Place the ground chuck into a bowl and add the bacon, salt, pepper and water. Fold the bacon and seasonings into the beef to blend evenly - but try not to overwork the meat. Form the beef into four 4" patties about 1/3-1/2" thick. Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to form a depression in the center of each patty.
  • While the grill is heating, slice the buns in half and assemble the rest of the toppings. Combine the monterey jack and cheddar together and transfer to a small bowl.
