1 cup water
1/2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal
4 oranges, peeled and quartered
4 carrots
1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple in juice
1 banana
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil in a small pan.
  • Add the oatmeal.
  • Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring, until oatmeal thickens.
  • Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  • Using a juicer, extract juice from the oranges and carrots.
  • Place the juice, pineapple, banana, honey, spices, and reserved oatmeal in a blender.
  • Mix until smooth.
  • Transfer mixture to a pitcher.
  • Cover and refrigerate until chilled.

1 1/2 tablespoons oatmeal
1 cup raspberries
2 teaspoons honey
1/2 cup water
3 teaspoons plain yogurt

Steps:

  • Spoon oatmeal into heatproof bowl. Pour in 1/2 cup boiling water and let stand 10 minute
  • Put the soaked oats in the blender and all remaining ingredients, reserving 1 tsp of yogurt. Process until smooth.
  • Pour the smoothie into a glass. Swirl in reserved yogurt and garnish with a few additional raspberries if desired.

1/4 cup old fashioned oats (uncooked)
1 1/2 teaspoons chia seeds
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/4 cup low-fat yogurt (Greek yogurt recommended)
3/4 cup applesauce
2 tablespoons pb 2 powdered peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon maple syrup

Steps:

  • Add oats and chia seeds to blender; blend on high until texture of flour. Add milk to blender; use spoon or spatula to stir in oats/chias from bottom. Add yogurt. Add applesauce, peanut butter (or PB2), & cinnamon. Blend on high until desired smoothness. Taste and add sweetener, if needed. Blend again. Transfer to pint (2 cup) jar or container; refrigerate overnight, or a minimum of 4 hours, so oats & chias can soften. Will keep in refrigerator at least 2-3 days. Shake before drinking.
  • IF TOO THICK after the fridge soak, add more juice or milk and shake jar/container or return to blender to combine.
  • FOR A SMOOTHER CONSISTENCY, return to blender after the fridge soak and blend again.
  • TO FREEZE: May be frozen after the 4 hour soak in the fridge. To thaw, move to fridge a day ahead so it is thawed for drinking the next day. For faster thaw, place frozen jar/container in bowl of cold water on the counter for 1-2 hours. Shake before drinking.

1 pineapple, peeled and sliced into rounds
1 cup old fashioned oats (not instant)
1/2 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks (optional)
5 cups water

Steps:

  • Add all the ingredients to a large pot and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Remove the pineapple and cinnamon sticks and pour the remaining liquid through a strainer, pressing down on the solids to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids and serve hot or cold.
  • Variations.
  • Instead of passing the cuáker through a strainer, you can puree it in a blender if you prefer.
  • Leave the pineapple unpeeled to give your cuaker even more flavor.
  • Add a little pineapple juice after simmering if you would like your cuáker a little thinner.
