HOLIDAY CHEESE BALL WREATH

Holiday Cheese Ball Wreath image

Bring your outdoor holiday wreath inside with this festive and easy cheeseball. Use a small Bundt pan to form a wreath shape, or roll the mixture into a ball or log. For a cheeseball worthy of any big gathering, skip the Bundt pan and colorful garnish and roll the ball in toasted sliced almonds instead.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     appetizer

Time 1h15m

Yield 16 to 20 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pound cream cheese, at room temperature
2 cups shredded firm cheese, such as Cheddar, pepper Jack or Colby
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup pickled piquante peppers, such as Peppadews, finely chopped
1/2 cup fresh parsley leaves, finely chopped
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
Crackers, sliced bread or crudites, for serving

Steps:

  • Line the inside of a 6-cup Bundt pan with plastic wrap. Process the cream cheese, shredded cheese, Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt and few grinds of pepper in a food processor until smooth. Empty the mixture into a medium bowl, and fold in all but 2 tablespoons of the chopped peppers.
  • Spoon the cheese mixture into the prepared Bundt pan; pack it in, spread into an even layer and cover (or simply form the cheese mixture into a ball and wrap tightly with plastic wrap). Refrigerate until chilled, at least 1 hour up to 2 days.
  • Uncover and invert the cheese mold (or unwrap and transfer the ball) onto a serving platter. Sprinkle with the chives and parsley to completely coat the wreath, and garnish with the reserved 2 tablespoons peppers. Serve with crackers, sliced bread or crudites.

SUNNY'S HOT HAM AND CHEESE WREATH

Sunny's Hot Ham and Cheese Wreath image

Provided by Sunny Anderson

Categories     appetizer

Time 40m

Yield 10 to 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

Two 8-ounce cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
1/4 cup jalapeño jelly
6 ounces deli ham, sliced paper thin
3 ounces Gruyere cheese, shredded
3 ounces pepper jack cheese, shredded
2 jalapeños, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Line a large baking sheet or pizza pan with parchment paper or nonstick aluminum foil. Place a 4.5-inch diameter bowl upside down in the center of the baking dish and use it as a guide (it will be the center, empty area of your wreath). Arrange triangular sections of the crescent dough on the parchment in a circle around the bowl with the long points facing outward as the "rays" and the wide bases in the center with the edges overlapping. Brush the jalapeño jelly on the dough. Remove the bowl.
  • In a small bowl, mix the ham, Gruyere and pepper jack, then layer the mixture on the dough, creating a ring around the center of the circle. Pull the points of dough from the outer edge over the filling and tuck under the center rim of the dough circle. The filling will show and that's ok! Top with jalapeño slices all around.
  • Bake, rotating halfway through, until golden, 20 to 25 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before slicing to serve.

CREAM CHEESE WREATH COOKIES

Cream Cheese Wreath Cookies image

A holiday favorite in my house - another one of my grandma's recipes. I use the star pattern of a cookie press to make the wreaths. I shape them into circles then decorate them with sprinkles and candied red cherries which stands in for the bow. What's great about this recipe is that you can modify it to your likes, change the color or press out different cut outs such as trees. NOTE: When measuring out your flour make sure your flour is sifted first, then measure out 3 1/2 cups.

Provided by mad_angel844

Categories     Dessert

Time 38m

Yield 60 Cookies

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup butter
8 ounces cream cheese
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon salt
green food coloring
candied red cherries (cut in half or quartered)
candy sprinkles

Steps:

  • In a mixer beat the butter until smooth.
  • Add the cream cheese, sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla until smooth blending each ingredient before adding the next.
  • If you are going to add color to the dough this is the stage to do it. Mix in your coloring to the desired tone.
  • Add Flour and salt to the mixture.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease the sheets (whichever you prefer).
  • Place dough into a cookie press and if using a star pattern, press out approximately 3-4 inches of dough.
  • Form the strings into circles and decorate with sprinkles and candied cherries.

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine yeast, warm water and brown sugar. Stir to combine and then let the yeast bloom undisturbed for 5 minutes.Next, add the melted butter, beer and salt to the mixer. Stir on low for thirty seconds and then begin to gradually add the flour. Mix on low for 3-5 minutes until all of the flour is combined and then mix on your mixer's medium speed for 2-3 minutes until the dough is smooth and pulls away cleanly from the sides of the bowl.Remove the dough from the bowl and shape it into a ball. Place into a well-oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough proof for approximately 1 hourWhile the dough proofs, make the filling. In a large bowl mix together the cream cheese, honey, Dusseldorf mustard and beer. Stir until blended and then fold in the grated cheddar cheese and diced ham. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.Next, divide the pretzel dough into three equal balls. Use a food scale so you can be precise. Then, take one ball of dough and roll out the dough into a long rope, about 18 inches long. Using a rolling pin, roll the rope flat by starting in the middle of the rope and rolling the dough towards the right end. Repeat on the left side of the rope. You should be left with an oblong, flattened rope shape that's about 24 inches long. Now, use your hands to crumble one-third of the pretzel filling along the length of the flattened dough rope, concentrating it in the center. You want to leave about 1/4" of dough exposed on either side of the filling.Use your fingers to pinch the dough together around the filling to form a filled log of pretzel dough. Seam both ends as well and then gently roll the log smooth to fully encase the filling in the pretzel dough. Set aside the filled dough rope and repeat this process with the two remaining portions of dough and filling. O
  • While the dough proofs, make an egg wash by beating together with a large egg with a few teaspoons of water in a small ramekin. Set aside.Next, prepare the lye bath for the pretzel by mixing 1/2 cup of ice-cold water with 1 1/2 teaspoons of lye. Do not use warm or hot water. Take extreme care when preparing and handling the lye mixture. Lye is a strong alkali that can cause burns if splashed onto the skin. Wear protective gloves, long sleeves and safety glasses when handling food-grade lye. When the lye mixture is ready, uncover the proofed wreath and gently brush the entire wreath—top, sides and center—with the solution. Following the lye, brush the entire wreath evenly with egg wash. Finally, sprinkle the wreath with pretzel salt and everything bagel season.
  • Place into a preheated 425°F oven on the center rack. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the pretzel has a deep brown color. It should feel crisp and sound hollow when tapped.Upon removing the pretzel from the oven, immediately brush with melted butter and garnish with fresh dill, if desired. Serve warm with your favorite beer cheese dip or assorted German mustards.
