40 saltines (it's about one sleeve from the package)
1/2 cup butter
1 cup light brown sugar (firmly packed in the cup) or 1 cup dark brown sugar (firmly packed in the cup)
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Place the crackers side by side in a foil-lined jelly-roll pan (I spray the foil with non-stick spray).
  • Combine the butter and brown sugar in saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Cook for 3 minutes.
  • Pour the mixture over the crackers.
  • Bake 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the baked crackers.
  • Let stand 5 minutes then spread the melted chocolate over the top.
  • Sprinkle with nuts if desired.
  • Chill in the refrigerator until set.
  • Invert onto a flat surface; remove the foil and break into pieces.
  • Store, covered in an airtight container in refrigerator.
  • Note: You can skip the chocolate chips- it's still delicious.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) degrees.
  • Line cookie sheet with foil & spray with non-stick cooking spray. Line crackers end to end on sheet, breaking crackers to fit the end if necessary.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter on low heat. Once melted, add brown sugar and turn heat to medium. Continue stirring until boiling - then boil for 3 minutes (set timer).
  • Pour over crackers, spread evenly working quickly.
  • Put sheet into oven - bake for 5 minutes.
  • Remove - pour chocolate chips over top - place a sheet of foil over and let melt for 3 minutes.
  • Spread melted chocolate over the top evenly. Add nuts to top - replace foil and refrigerate until set. (Can be frozen.)
  • Break up into pieces.

  • Melt butter on low heat. Once melted add brown sugar and stir occasionally until mixture starts to boil.
  • Let boil for 3 minutes, then stir to make a smooth caramel. Pour caramel over crackers and let sit for 5 minutes.

1 cup butter, cubed
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 15x10x1-in. baking pan with foil; grease foil. Arrange saltines in a single layer on foil., In a large heavy saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar. Bring to a boil; cook and stir 3-4 minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Spread evenly over crackers., Bake 8-10 minutes or until bubbly. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. Allow chips to soften for a few minutes, then spread over top. Sprinkle with pecans. Cool slightly., Refrigerate, uncovered, 1 hour or until set. ¾ cup white sugar
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
¾ cup chopped walnuts

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
24 saltine crackers, finely crushed

Steps:

  • Combine sugar and evaporated milk in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. (stir constantly to prevent scorching).
  • Remove from heat; add peanut butter and vanilla. Mix well.
  • Add crushed crackers and toss lightly to blend. Allow mixture to stand for 15 minutes.
  • Drop mixture by small teaspoon onto waxed paper.
  • Allow candies to firm before serving.

76 crackers, broken in half. (2 sleeves of a Ritz type cracker)
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 cups millk chocolate chips
3/4 cup toasted chopped pecans
1/2 cup chopped white chocolate

Steps:

  • Place crackers on a lightly greased aluminum foil-lined jellyroll pan.
  • Bring butter and brown sugar to a boil in a saucepan, stirring constantly.
  • Cook 3 minutes, stirring often.
  • Pour over crackers.

If you over cook the syrup ball test stage, it will be very crumbly. No problem! You then can use it as a icecream topping.Yummy! It will taste great either way. All ages love this.

2 cups pecans (chopped)
1 cup coconut (optional)
3 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups milk (regular)
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 tablespoons margarine

Steps:

  • In a large pot (size of a round magnalite) add sugar and milk. Mix and cook on medium burner until bubbly.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of margarine. Stir, cook and check until a drop in water forms a firm ball (like soft caramel).
  • Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla. Mix and QUICKLY add the bowl 1 dry ingredients. Stir, pour, and SPEEDILY spread this mixture into the prepared margarine greased 9x12 pan.
  • Let cool and cut into squares.
