3 tablespoons freshly squeezed Lime Juice
1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 teaspoons Sugar
1/4 cup chopped Green Onion
1/4 cup chopped fresh Cilantro
One 12-ounce bag Cabbage and Carrots Coleslaw Mix

Steps:

  • In small bowl add lime juice, olive oil and sugar. Mix well, until sugar is dissolved.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine green onions, cilantro and coleslaw mix. Toss to mix.
  • Pour lime juice mixture over coleslaw mixture. Toss until coated.
  • Store, covered, in the refrigerator, for 2 hours, to allow the flavors to develop, or until ready to serve.

These copycat Wahoo's char-grilled fish tacos are fresh and flavorful, combining influences from Mexico, Asia, and Brazil.

2 ounces coleslaw mix
1/2 ounce thinly sliced red onions
1 teaspoon minced cilantro
1 teaspoon lime juice
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon each, salt and pepper
1/2 cup packed cilantro leaves
1 tablespoon fresh flat-leaf parsley
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon minced canned roasted jalapeños
2 tablespoon fat free mayonnaise
Salt and pepper to taste
8 ounces fresh mahi-mahi, Wahoo, or other white fish
Garlic salt
Oil for brushing the grill
8 corn tortillas
1 to 2 ounces freshly grated cheddar and Monterey jack cheese
1/4 cup chili garlic sauce
Citrus slaw
Green sauce
Fresh pico de gallo

Steps:

  • Mix the slaw ingredients in a bowl.
  • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and pulse to combine.
  • Season the fish filets with the garlic salt.
  • Heat a grill or grill pan, and brush the grill grates with oil.
  • Grill the fish 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  • Cook the tortillas over an open flame on your stovetop or on the grill.
  • Assemble the tacos by adding the fish, cheese, chili garlic sauce, cabbage, pico de gallo, and green sauces.
  • Serve with white rice and black beans.

Grilled Fish Tacos with Lime Slaw image

2 1/2 cups shredded coleslaw mix
1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
Juice of 1 lime, plus wedges for serving
3/4 teaspoon sugar
Kosher salt
Vegetable oil, for the grill
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 pounds skinless grouper or other firm white fish, halved crosswise
8 corn tortillas
Fresh cilantro, Mexican crema and salsa verde, for serving

Steps:

  • Toss the slaw mix, red onion, lime juice, sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a large bowl; set aside.
  • Preheat a grill to medium. Oil the grates. Mix the cayenne with 1/2 teaspoon salt in a small bowl; rub all over the fish. Grill until well marked on the bottom and the fish releases easily from the grill, about 6 minutes. Flip and grill until cooked through, 4 to 6 more minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and slice or flake the fish.
  • Meanwhile, wrap the tortillas in foil and warm on the grill, about 4 minutes.
  • Divide the fish among the warm tortillas. Top with the slaw, cilantro, crema and salsa verde. Serve with lime wedges.
