Copycat Hooters Buffalo Wings are just what your football watch party needs. Super crispy, spicy perfection.

Provided by Meg

Time 1h45m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 cup hot pepper sauce
1/4 cup butter
Dash of pepper
Dash of garlic powder
peanut oil, for frying
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
10 chicken wing pieces

Steps:

  • Combine the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper and salt in a bowl with a lid that is large enough to fit the wings. Place wings in the bowl, cover with the lid and shake until they are all completely coated and are not stuck together. Put the wings in the refrigerator for 60-90 minutes (this will help the coating stick when fried).
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees F. You want just enough to cover the wings entirely.
  • Carefully place the wings into the hot oil and fry for 10-15 minutes or until they begin to turn dark brown.
  • Meanwhile, combine the butter, hot pepper sauce , ground pepper and garlic powder over low heat. Heat until the butter is melted and the ingredients are well blended.
  • Remove the wings from the fryer and place on a paper towel to drain. Toss the wings with the sauce in a large bowl until they are evenly coated. Serve with bleu cheese or ranch dressing, carrots and celery.

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/2 cup Tabasco Sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon paprika

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
3/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons chili sauce

Steps:

  • First, prepare the hooters sauce by mixing all its ingredients in a suitable bowl.
  • Transfer this homemade hooter's sauce to a sealable jar and store it in the refrigerator until the wings are ready to cook.
  • Take a mixing bowl and start adding paprika, salt, whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, paprika, salt, and cayenne pepper to the bowl.
  • Mix these dry ingredients well until completely incorporated. Spread this flour pepper mixture in a shallow plate to coat the chicken wings.

  • Place this coated chicken wing in a tray and coat the remaining chicken wings with the same flour mixture.
  • Transfer them to the tray one by one after shaking off the excess flour off the wings.
  • Refrigerate all the chicken wings for 90 minutes in the refrigerator to allow the flour coating to set.

  • Put it on medium-high heat until it is completed heated to 375 degrees F.
  • Now remove the coated chicken from the refrigerator and add half of the coated chicken to the hot oil.

  • Remove the crispy cooked chicken wings from the oil using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a steel strainer to drain all the excess oil.
  • Meanwhile, deep fry the remaining batch of the chicken wings until they well cooked and crispy.
  • Transfer these wings to the strainer as well and leave them for 5 minutes to drain all the oil.
  • Now spread the wings in the serving platter or in a bucket for serving.

COPYCAT HOOTERS HOT WINGS - LOW FAT VERSION

Copycat Hooters Hot Wings - Low Fat Version image

I tried Todd Wilbur's recipe # 3603 for Hooter's hot wings, but I made some adjustments to lighten it up and here it is! These do need to marinate overnight, which is not included in the cook times.

Provided by mariposa13

Categories     Chicken

Time 30m

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

20 chicken wings
1/2 cup flour
paprika
cayenne pepper
salt
2 cups hot sauce
1/4 cup Shedd Spread Country Crock, made with yogurt
ground black pepper
garlic powder

Steps:

  • Defrost the chicken wings and place them in a flat dish to marinate. Cover with 1 cup hot sauce and refrigerate overnight.
  • Mix flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt in medium size bowl.
  • Preheat oven to 400*F.
  • Line baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
  • Coat each chicken wing in the flour mixture and place on baking sheet in a single layer.
