Ever tried a boozy hot chocolate? Whip up this blend of white chocolate, coconut rum and fresh coconut flakes and you may never look back...

Ingredients

150ml whole milk
25g white chocolate , chopped
25ml coconut-flavoured rum (we used Malibu)
1 tsp finely grated dark chocolate
1 tsp coconut flakes , toasted (optional)

Steps:

Pour the milk into a small pan and then place over a medium heat until simmering, stirring so it doesn't scorch. Remove the pan from the heat then add the white chocolate and stir. Once the chocolate has melted, place the pan back on the heat to warm through. Add the coconut-flavoured rum and pour into a mug.
Garnish with the dark chocolate and a few toasted coconut flakes if you like.

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup (packed) light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 cup dark rum
1/2 cup heavy cream
Freshly grated nutmeg (for serving)

Steps:

Melt butter and chocolate in a medium heatproof bowl in short bursts in the microwave, stirring after each burst, or set over a saucepan of barely simmering water (do not let water touch bowl), stirring, until smooth. Remove from heat and whisk in brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Bring 2 1/2 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat and whisk in rum and chocolate mixture until combined.
Using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat cream in a medium bowl until soft peaks form.
Reheat hot chocolate, if needed, then divide among mugs. Top generously with whipped cream and nutmeg.

Coconut liqueur
Whipped topping, for garnish

Steps:

Bring the milk, cream, and coconut extract to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the chocolate. Whisk until smooth and pour into mugs. Stir in coconut liqueur, to taste. Garnish with whipped topping, shaved dark chocolate, and shredded coconut.
