Ingredients

Margarita salt or kosher salt, for rimming glass
Ground chipotle powder, for rimming glass
1 small lime wedge
2 ounces tequila, preferably anejo
1 ounce grapefruit juice
3/4 ounce orange liqueur, such as Cointreau
Grapefruit twist, for garnish
Lime twist, for garnish

Steps:

Mix some salt and chipotle powder together on a plate. Cut a slit in the lime wedge and run it around the rim of a rocks glass and dip the rim in the salt mixture. Fill the glass with ice.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the tequila, grapefruit juice and orange liqueur. Vigorously shake until very cold and strain the drink into the rimmed rocks glass. The margarita can also be served up in a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with grapefruit and lime twists.

1 lime, cut in wedges, optional
Kosher salt, optional
1 cup ruby red grapefruit juice
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (4 limes)
1 cup orange liqueur, such a Triple Sec
2 cups ice
1 cup white tequila

Steps:

If you like a salt rim on the glasses, rub the lime around the edge of the glass and then dip the rim of each glass lightly in a plate of kosher salt. Set aside to dry.
Combine the grapefruit juice, lime juice, orange liqueur, and ice in a blender and puree until smooth. Pour into a large pitcher and stir in the tequila. If youre not serving the margaritas in salted glasses, stir 1/4 teaspoon of salt into the pitcher of margaritas. Believe me, it will make a difference!
Serve ice cold.

2 ounces tequila
2 ounces orange liqueur
2 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice, about 2 limes
6 ounces fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, pink grapefruit is pretty
simple syrup, to taste
2 tablespoons coarse salt
2 teaspoons coarse sugar crystals
grapefruit, wedges for garnish
lime wedge, for garnish

Steps:

Mix tequila, orange liqueur, lime, and grapefruit juices well. If you think you need a little more sweetness, add a splash of simple syrup.
Combine the coarse salt and sugar in a shallow bowl and mix together well.
Rub one of the used lime or grapefruit rinds around the rim of two glasses and dip in cocktail salt/sugar mixture.
Fill each glass with ice and pour in the margarita OR place the ice in a blender and mix the margarita mixture together to make a frozen margarita.
Pour into 2 glasses and garnish with grapefruit and lime wedges.

2 cups plus 2 tablespoons tequila
1-2 habanero chiles, halved
Kosher salt
6 cups fresh pink grapefruit juice

Steps:

Mix tequila and chiles in a large pitcher. Let steep 3 hours, or longer if a spicier tequila is desired. Discard chiles. DO AHEAD: Can be made 1 month ahead. Cover; chill.
Pour enough water onto a small plate to cover. Pour enough salt onto another small plate to cover by 1/4". Dip rims of eight 12-ounce glasses into water, then into salt to lightly coat; fill with ice. Add grapefruit juice to pitcher with tequila. Fill with ice; stir until cold. Divide drink among glasses.
