1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 cup pecans, chopped
2/3 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2/3 cup sour cream
4 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
vanilla glaze, recipe follows (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°F For the Streusel Topping, mix flour, brown sugar and cinnamon in medium bowl. Cut in cold butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in pecans. Set aside.
  • For the Cake, beat softened butter, granulated sugar and sour cream in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla. Gradually beat in flour and baking soda on low speed until well mixed.
  • Spoon 1/2 of the Streusel Topping into greased and floured 12-cup Bundt pan. Spoon 1/2 of the batter over top. Repeat layers.
  • Bake 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar or drizzle with Vanilla Glaze, if desired.
  • Vanilla Glaze: Mix 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, 2 tablespoons water and 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract in medium bowl until smooth. If necessary, stir in 1 to 3 additional teaspoons water until glaze is of desired consistency. Drizzle over cooled cake. Let stand until glaze is set.
  • Cinnamon Apple Streusel Cake: Prepare cake batter as directed, stirring in 1 cup chopped peeled apple.

Steps:

  • Make cake: Preheat oven to 350° and grease a bundt pan with butter then sprinkle and coat evenly with a thin layer of flour. Prepare cake mix according to package instructions, then stir in cinnamon.
  • Pour ⅓ of the batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle on an even a layer of cinnamon-sugar. Pour another ⅓ of the batter then top with another layer of cinnamon-sugar. Pour ⅓ remaining batter on top, then very gently, drag a butter knife through the batter to create swirls.

1/4 cup plus 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/4 cup warm water (105° to 110°F)

  • To make the dough:
  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and 1 teaspoon granulated sugar in the warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until foamy.

In a small bowl, combine the 2/3 cup brown sugar, the cinnamon, and salt and sprinkle over the dough. Starting at one short end, roll into a cylinder. Cut crosswise into 10 equal pieces.
  • Brush a 10- to 12-cup Bundt pan with melted butter and coat with the 3 tablespoons brown sugar. Place the pieces of dough, seam side down, around the pan, angling the pieces slightly so that no piece completely covers the swirl pattern of its neighbor. 1/4 c sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
2 box 3.4 oz instant vanilla pudding
1 c sour cream
1/2 c oil
4 eggs
3/4 c chopped nuts

1 Tbsp cinnamon
1/2 c cream cheese frosting (i bought pre-made frosting on the cake aisle)

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together the cake mix (, the pudding, sour cream, oil and eggs. Add 3/4 cup of chopped nuts. In small bowl, combine 1/4 c sugar and 1 Tbsp cinnamon. Fold into cake batter; avoid overmixing. Mixture will be thick.
  • 2. In small bowl, mix brown sugar, 1/2 cup chopped nuts and cinnamon.
  • 3. Put 1/2 of the cake mixture into a bundt pan. On top of the cake batter, sprinkle the brown sugar mixture.
  • 4. Put remaining cake batter in the bundt pan on top of the brown sugar.
  • 5. Bake at 350 for 55 minutes.
  • 6. Let cool in pan for short time (about 10 minutes) and then invert onto serving platter. (I tend to make sure the cake is loosened from the sides of the pan using a soft spatula before doing "the flip.")
  • 7. Take about 1/4 - 1/2 cup of cream cheese frosting from container and put into microwave safe bowl. Heat for about 30 -45 seconds, or until the frosting is melted.
  • 8. Drizzle melted frosting over the cake.
  • 9. NOTE: You may use the Decadent Supreme Cinnamon Cake Mix that is now available and eliminate the yellow cake mix and the cinnamon-sugar add-in to the batter. I adjusted this recipe to use a yellow cake mix because the Decadent Supreme mixes are not easily found in all grocery store locations.

  • Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray 9 x 13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray (I like the kind that has flour in it.) In a large bowl (or the bowl of your stand mixer), combine ingredients for cake (except melted butter).
  • While your mixer is running, slowly add the 1/2 cup melted butter. Mix just until combined (overmixing flour in baked goods can make it tough and rubbery.)
  • Spread this batter evenly into your baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, combine all your filling ingredients: softened butter, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Stir until combined well.
  • Drop the cinnamon filling by spoonfuls onto the cake batter.
  • Take a butter knife and make swirly, marble-effect patterns all around the cake. Drag the knife through both the cinnamon and cake batter.
  • Bake the cake for about 35-40 minutes (it took about 40 minutes in my oven), until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Whisk together powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract in small bowl.
  • Pour the glaze over the warm cake.

1 (18 ounce) box package yellow cake mix
3 eggs
1/3 cup oil
1 cup sour cream

2 (12 ounce) cans cream cheese frosting

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease WELL 2 9" round cake pans.
  • For Brown Sugar Layer combine ingredients and spread into each pan to within 2 inches of the edge.
  • Combine all the ingredients for the cake and mix on medium speed until fluffy, approximately 2 minutes. Pour one cup batter into separate bowl and divide remaining batter into the pans.
  • For Brown Sugar Swirls combine the reserved batter with cinnamon and brown sugar. Drop by tablespoons onto the batter in the pans. Swirl, being careful not to stir up the brown sugar layer.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes then remove and cool on racks.
  • Place one cake sugar side up on plate and frost the center. Top with remaining cake, sugar side down and frost the rest of the cake.

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a bundt pan with cooking spray and flour the inside. Spread the ⅓ cup pecans on the bottom of the pan and set aside. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt and pudding mix. Set aside.
  • In a standup mixer beat together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time and mix well. Add the flour alternatively with the sour cream and milk mixed with the vanilla, and ending with the flour. Beat well for 2 min.
  • Mix the swirl ingredients together. Pour half the cake batter into the prepared bundt pan, take half the swirl mixture and with your hands drop small pieces all around the center of the batter, connecting the filling like a ring in the middle. Pour the remaining batter in and top with the rest of the swirl mixture, pressing it into the batter slightly again making a ring in the middle of the batter. Bake for 50-60 min. or until a cake tester comes out clean. Let cool for 10-15 min. Then carefully place on a cooling rack to cool completely. The cake is so moist it can be made a day ahead of time, wrapped with foil.
  • When ready to serve. Whip together the cream cheese glaze by creaming the cream cheese until softened, slowly add the icing sugar and vanilla. Add enough milk for desired consistency. Beat for 3-4 min. on high to remove any lumps. Pour over cake and serve.
