Yield Makes 16 cones

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons Dutch-process cocoa powder
2 large egg whites, room temperature

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 475 degrees.

Ricotta and Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cones image

Provided by Giada De Laurentiis

Categories     dessert

Time 40m

Yield 12 sugar cones

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 (15-ounce) container whole milk ricotta cheese
1 cup whole milk
1 cup simple syrup, recipe follows
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
12 sugar cones (recommended: Keebler)
2/3 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup water
1 cup sugar

Steps:

  • For the Ricotta and Chocolate Chip Ice Cream: In a medium bowl, whisk together ricotta cheese and milk until smooth. Add the simple syrup and vanilla extract. Stir to combine. Pour the ricotta mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's directions. Add the chocolate chips 10 minutes before the end of freezing.
  • For the Sugar Cones: Stand 3 sugar cones in each of the 4 glass tumblers. Mix the chocolate-hazelnut spread and chocolate chips together in a small bowl. Place the bowl over a pan of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the pan does not touch the water. Stir until the chocolate chips have melted and the mixture is smooth. Spoon 2 teaspoons of chocolate mixture into each sugar cone. Place the glasses in the freezer for 10 to15 minutes until the chocolate becomes firm.
  • To serve: Using a 2-ounce ice cream scoop, place 1 scoop of ice cream on top of each sugar cone. Serve immediately.
  • In a saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Take the pan off the heat and allow the syrup to cool.

VANILLA OR CHOCOLATE TUILES

Vanilla or Chocolate Tuiles image

'Tuile' is the French term for 'tile'. These cookies are very pliable when still hot and are traditionally draped over a rolling pin. When cool, they would resemble the tiles on old French villas.

Provided by Kevin Ryan

Categories     World Cuisine Recipes     European     French

Time 2h

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 5

½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted
4 egg whites
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup cake flour

Steps:

  • Beat butter and sugar together with an electric mixer on medium-high speed. Beat in the egg whites, one at a time. Beat in the vanilla.
  • Lower the speed and add the flour or flour-cocoa mixture (see Cook's Note) and mix until just combined. Do not overmix. Cover bowl and chill for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Cut a small hole (about 3 1/2 inch diameter) in a thin piece of cardboard or plastic to serve as a template in forming the tuiles. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicon mat and place the stencil on it. Using a small off-set spatula, place a small amount of the batter in the center of the hole of the stencil and spread it out evenly. Carefully lift the stencil off. Repeat for more cookies.
  • Bake in preheated oven until lightly brown around the edges, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and while still hot, remove tuiles from the pan and drape them over a rolling pin. Allow to sit a few minutes to harden and cool. Store in an airtight container.

TUILE COOKIE ICE CREAM CONES

Tuile Cookie Ice Cream Cones image

Provided by Michael Chiarello : Food Network

Categories     dessert

Time 1h13m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 large egg whites, lightly whisked
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside.
  • In a bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. Whisk in the egg whites, butter, and vanilla until well combined. Let the batter sit at room temperature for 45 minutes. If using later, cover the surface with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of the batter about 6 inches apart onto the baking sheet. Spread the batter with an offset spatula or the back of a spoon into 5 or 6-inch rounds.
  • Bake in the middle of the oven until golden and lightly brown around the edges, about 6 to 8 minutes. To shape, gently loosen a cookie from the baking sheet with an offset spatula, then turn it over so the smooth side is facing up. Roll the cookie into a cone and hold the bottom of the cone together for several seconds until cookie holds its shape. Carefully slip the cone into a Champagne flute and let it cool completely. Shape the remaining cookies. If the cookies become too brittle to roll, return the baking sheet to the oven for a few seconds to soften. Make and shape more cookies with the remaining batter.
  • Chef's Note: If the bottoms of the cones do not close tightly, fill them with peanut butter, chopped candy, or melted chocolate that has been cooled.

HOT CHOCOLATE CONES

Hot Chocolate Cones image

I saw this recipe in a magazine at my doctor's office this afternoon and then when I was doing some shopping I saw them again advertised as hot chocolate for 2 using the optional ingredients listed. I thought they were very cute to give as gifts to co-workers, teachers, or to include in a gift basket with a special mug. You will need 2 (6 x 12) clear cone bags and 2 clear rubber bands to make the cones. I couldn't list with the ingredients list.

Provided by PaulaG

Categories     Low Cholesterol

Time 15m

Yield 1 cone

Number Of Ingredients 5

3/4 cup hot cocoa mix
1/4 cup mini chocolate chip (optional)
1/4 cup red and white M&M's plain chocolate candy (optional)
3/4 cup mini marshmallows
1 large red gumdrop

Steps:

  • Pour the cocoa mix into a 6 x 12 clear cone bag and seal with a clear rubber band; trim 1 inch above band.
  • Place the filled bag into a second cone bag, flattening the top.
  • Layer either the chocolate chips or the M&M candies followed with the mini-marshamallows.
  • Top all off with a red gumdrop and sercure the bag with the last rubber band.
  • Attach a tag for instructions on making the hot chocolate. Divide the hot chocolate mix into thirds, place in a cup and fill with 3/4 cup boiling water.
  • Top each cup with equal amounts of chocolate chips and marshamallows, enjoy.

CHOCOLATE WAFFLE CONES OR BOWLS

Chocolate Waffle Cones or Bowls image

This is a basic chocolate waffle cone used for ice cream. While warm form into cones, or place over the back of small custard cups for bowls, or trim up with a pizza cutter into squares for ice cream sandwiches. You do need a waffle cone maker machine or a pizzelle iron to make these cones. I have both machines and prefer to use my waffle cone maker machine.

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 eggs
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sifted cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder

  • Add the melted cooled butter and vanilla.
  • Sift the measured flour, cocoa powder and powder together and blend into the egg mixture well, making a sticky drop by spoon batter.
  • Drop a heaping tablespoon onto preheated waffle cone maker and close lid and bake until desired colour.
  • Remove and form into cones or bowls, or trim for squares.
  • Hints: for cones dip the crisp cooled cone into melted chocolate and roll into nuts or sprinkles.
  • for bowls let sit on inverted custard cups pressing around to shape let cool about 30 seconds the remove to completely cool, brush inside bottom with melted chocolate and then nuts or sprinkles, allow chocolate then to harden.
  • for squares I trim with a pizza cutter and use for bars. You can also brush with melted chocolate and let harden before storing away.
  • I also use the squares for some of my baking cakes or kit kat bars to make a delicious square using a few of these as an added layer, gives crunch. Sometimes I also add chopped fine walnuts or pecans to the melted chocolate and let harden then use in a layer cake. You have to try that too.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut
Accompaniment: passion-fruit ice cream
Garnish: sliced star fruit
Special equipment: a small metal offset spatula

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Crumple foil to form a solid cone (about 6 inches long and 3 inches across widest part) for shaping cookies.
  • Drop 2 (1-tablespoon) portions of dough 6 inches apart on a buttered baking sheet and pat each into a 5-inch round with your fingertips. Bake in middle of oven until golden, 6 to 8 minutes (cookies will spread to about 6 inches).

Roll 1 cookie onto cone and cool on cone until cookie holds cone shape, about 15 seconds, then carefully slip off onto a rack to cool completely. Shape remaining cookie in same manner. (If cookies become too brittle to roll onto cone, return baking sheet to oven for a few seconds to soften.) Make and shape more cookies with remaining dough.
  • Put 3 small scoops ice cream into each cone and put cones on plates.

HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE-COVERED ICE CREAM CONES RECIPE BY TASTY

Homemade Chocolate-Covered Ice Cream Cones Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: semisweet chocolate chips, heavy cream, coconut oil, ice cream sugar cones, vanilla ice cream, chopped peanut

Provided by Alix Traeger

Categories     Desserts

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup coconut oil
6 ice cream sugar cones
1 gal vanilla ice cream, softened
1 cup chopped peanut

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine ½ cup (85 G) chocolate chips and the heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth, about 1 minute total. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until set, about 20 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine the remaining chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth, about 1 minute total.
  • Wrap a 9x5-inch (22x12 cm) loaf pan in foil, keeping the foil taut across the top. Set nearby.
  • Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the melted chocolate-coconut oil mixture into a cone, flip upside-down, and spin to coat the inside, letting excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. Poke the cone through the foil to prop upright, and repeat with the remaining cones. Chill in fridge until set, about 2 minutes.
  • Once set, spoon some of the softened ice cream into the cones to fill, and smooth the tops. Place the cones in the freezer for 10 minutes, or until set.
  • Scoop about a teaspoon of the ganache onto a spoon. Fill an ice cream scooper with the ice cream and create a hole in the middle with the end of a spoon. Place the ganache in the hole and place on top of a cone. Repeat with remaining cones.
  • Set the cones on a baking sheet and freeze again for 30 minutes, or until solid.
  • Using the remaining melted chocolate, dip the cones, turning to coat the ice cream.
  • While the chocolate is still wet, quickly dip the cones in the chopped peanuts to coat.

  • Get your toppings or sprinkles ready. Add them to small bowls that are wide enough to fit the top of the cones. Also, lay out a sheet of wax paper for drying the cones.
  • In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt your chocolate in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring often. If desired, add a small amount of vegetable oil or coconut oil to create an extra smooth consistency.
  • Hold the cone by the bottom tip and slowly submerge the opening into the melted chocolate. Slowly raise the cone out of the chocolate and gently shake the cone back and forth over your melted chocolate to get any excess chocolate off.
  • Immediately roll the cones in toppings or sprinkles. Place the cones on wax paper so they are standing up. If you lay the cones down flat to dry, you will end up with a flattened area of chocolate on the back of the cone.Work quickly in small batches, and set each batch of cones in the fridge for about 15-20 minutes (or until completely hardened) to allow the chocolate to set.
