Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and generously grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Set aside.
- Using a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a paddle or whisk attachment, beat the butter and sugar together on medium-high speed until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes. Scrape down the sides and up the bottom of the bowl with a rubber spatula as needed. Add the eggs and beat on high speed for 1 minute, then beat in the sour cream and vanilla extract. Scrape down the sides and up the bottom of the bowl as needed. The mixture will be very lumpy and appear curdled- that's ok. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Turn the mixer to low speed and as the mixer runs, slowly pour in the milk. Beat on low speed just until all of the ingredients are combined. Do not over-mix. You may need to whisk it all by hand to make sure there are no large lumps at the bottom of the bowl. The batter will be slightly thick. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour and spread batter evenly into prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for about 60-75 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. That time is a guideline- all ovens differ, so keep a close eye on the cake after 55 minutes. If the cake is browning too quickly on top, loosely tent with aluminum foil as it bakes.
- Cool cake in the pan set on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before removing from the pan. Feel free to continue cooling it directly on a wire rack or slice and enjoy then. (It will still be slightly warm.) You can drizzle the topping on the cake when the cake is still slightly warm after that 1 hour of cooling or wait until the cake has cooled completely to top it.
- Stir and melt chocolate chips and peanut butter together in a small saucepan over medium heat on the stove or in a heatproof bowl using the microwave. We usually use the microwave and melt in 30 second increments, stirring after each until smooth. Drizzle over cake. Topping sets into a fudge-like consistency after several hours.
- Cover leftovers tightly and store cake (with or without topping) at room temperature for 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Steps:
- Take whatever you need out of the refrigerator so that all ingredients can come room temperature.
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F, putting in a baking sheet as you do so.
- Put the flour, baking soda, cocoa, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, and sour cream into the processor and blitz until a smooth, satiny brown batter. Scrape down with a rubber spatula and process again while pouring the boiling water down the funnel. Switch it off, then remove the lid and the well-scraped double-bladed knife and, still using your rubber spatula, stir in the chocolate chips or morsels.
- Scrape and pour the batter into the prepared loaf tin and put into the oven, cooking for about 1 hour. When ready, the loaf will be risen and split down the middle and a cake-tester will pretty well come out clean.
- Not long before the cake is due out of the oven (when it has had about 45 to 50 minutes), put the syrup ingredients of cocoa, water and sugar into a small saucepan and boil for about 5 minutes, to give a thick syrup.
- Take the cake out of the oven and sit it on a cooling rack, still in the tin, and pierce here and there with a cake tester. Pour the syrup over the cake.
- Let the cake become completely cold and then slip out of its tin, removing the foil as you do so. Sit on an oblong or other plate. Sprinkle the chocolate splinters over the top of the sticky surface of the cake

Steps:
- Make the pound cake: Preheat the oven to 350˚. Butter the bottom and sides of a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan, then line with parchment paper in two overlapping strips, leaving an overhang. Butter the parchment and lightly dust with flour, tapping out the excess.
- Microwave the heavy cream in a small microwave-safe bowl until steaming, about 1 minute. Pour over the cocoa powder in a medium bowl and stir to make a thick smooth paste; let cool.
- Whisk the eggs, egg yolk and vanilla in a medium bowl until frothy; set aside. Beat the butter and cane sugar in a large bowl with a mixer on medium speed until well combined, 1 to 2 minutes. Scrape down the bowl and increase the mixer speed to medium high. Beat until pale and fluffy, 6 to 7 minutes.
- Add the cocoa mixture to the butter mixture; beat until well combined, 1 minute. Reduce the mixer speed to low and beat in the flour until just combined. Gradually add the egg mixture and beat until combined. Scrape down the bowl, increase the speed to medium and beat until smooth and fluffy, about 30 seconds. Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake until the top springs back when gently pressed and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. Transfer to a rack and let cool 10 to 15 minutes in the pan. Lift the cake from the pan and remove the parchment; return the cake to the rack to cool completely. Dust with confectioners' sugar just before serving.
CHOCOLATE CHIP LOAF CAKE
You can also grease a loaf pan and insert a parchment paper sling across the wide side for lifting, but the foil eliminates washing the pan. I like to use part dark chocolate chips and part 68% chocolate bar. It's best to have your ingredients at room temperature. - Jenny Jones

SOUR CREAM CHOCOLATE CHIP NUT LOAF
At any point during the 1980s, you could've opened the middle pantry drawer in our kitchen and discovered a treasure trove of baked goods from our supermarket's Entenmann's display: fudge-frosted doughnuts, mini chocolate chip cookies, thick-glazed cupcakes. My father had--and still has--an epic sweet tooth that deserves a three-hundred-page volume all to itself. The king of the drawer, though, was the Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Nut Loaf, because it only made rare appearances at the supermarket, and, much to our dismay, eventually disappeared from shelves across the country. (We never did find out why.) My father and I were the biggest fans of the loaf, and in the twenty-five years since I've seen it, I don't think I've ever walked by the Entenmann's section without secretly hoping I'll spy one amid the doughnut holes and crumb cakes. Until then, I have this homemade version, which comes about as close as you can get.

CHOCOLATE CHIP ORANGE CAKE
I found this posted a few places and it seemed intriguing enough to try (and I had the ingredients for it). I was very happy with the way it turned out. It's a loaf cake, not too sweet, and the hint of orange seems to intensify the chocolate. It's somewhere between a cake and a bread, and quite good, especially with a cup of coffee. As an added bonus, it's not a lot of work to make, all easily done by hand without beating or a mixer. (I did leave out the nuts because I can't have them, but I'm sure it would be just as good with them added).

CHOCOLATE CHIP CHERRY FRUITCAKE LOAF
This is my version of a recipe originally found in an old issue of Taste of Home magazine. I make this each year and it is always a hit. My family likes this particular version because only contains fruit & nuts they like(cherries, dates or raisins and pecans)plus chocolate chips - no tangy sour bits of rind and also no alcohol so children can enjoy this as well. You also don't need to make this too far in advance as it requires no aging - I make this the day before Christmas Eve and serve it as part of our holiday meal. You can substitute any finely chopped nut you prefer for the pecans if they are not available in your area. They should be chopped finely, but still have some texture - do not use ground nuts. Prep time assumes you have already shelled and chopped your nuts. Cook time is 1 1/4-1 1/2 hours.

- Beat eggs and sugar in a large bowl until well combined.
- In another large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.

- Garnish top with a row of cherry halves down the center of the batter- press gently so they stick.
- Bake in a preheated 325 F oven for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours or until golden and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out mostly clean (there will be streaks of melted chocolate but not gobs of beige batter) - DO NOT OVERBAKE or it will be as hard as a rock.
- Let cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove from pan and let cool completely.
- Usually I slice the loaf after it has cooled and seal it in a plastic zip-top bag, which helps keep it from hardening up.
