Steps:
- Mix some salt and chipotle powder together on a plate. Cut a slit in the lime wedge and run it around the rim of a rocks glass and dip the rim in the salt mixture. Fill the glass with ice.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the tequila, grapefruit juice and orange liqueur. Vigorously shake until very cold and strain the drink into the rimmed rocks glass. The margarita can also be served up in a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with grapefruit and lime twists.

- For the chipotle salt: Mix together the salt and 1 teaspoon chipotle powder on a plate.
- For the margarita: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the grapefruit juice, tequila, orange liqueur and pinch of chipotle powder. Cover and shake until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds. (In general, the drink is ready by the time the shaker mists up.).
- Moisten the rim of a chilled rocks glass with one of the grapefruit wedges and press the rim into the chipotle salt. Strain the margarita into the prepared glass and garnish with the remaining grapefruit wedge.

The kick of heat from the chile powder enhances the tart-sweetness of the margarita, and each sip is somehow spicy, smoky, and refreshing all at the same time. The original recipe calls for 5 ounces of tequila - but that's way to strong for wimpy me - you can adjust to fit your taste
