Provided by Liv Wan

Categories     Dinner     Entree     Lunch     Appetizer

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 12

10 ounces / 280 g shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 1/2 ounces / 100 g fatty pork mince
3 spring onions , chopped finely
2 thin slice ginger , roughly chopped
25 to 30 sheets of wonton wrappers
Flour (for spreading on the plate in case of the wonton sticking to the plate or stick together)
Seasonings:
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon light soy sauce
1 teaspoon of rice wine
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/4 teaspoon white sesame oil or blended sesame oil

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Process half of the shrimp and all the pork, ginger and seasonings in a food processor .
  • Roughly chop the remaining shrimp and transfer to a medium bowl. Add the spring onions and the mixture from the processor to the bowl. Fold together to combine.
  • Put 1 teaspoon of filling onto the center of the wonton wrapper and use your fingers to gently close the wrapper tightly. You can brush a little bit of water onto the edges to help the wrappers seal and stay closed. Sprinkle a thin layer of flour on a large plate. Place the wontons on the plate as you finish forming them.
  • Bring a pot of water (or broth) to a boil. Drop in the wontons in batches and cook until they float to the top, about 5 minutes.

HEALTHY BAKED CHICKEN WONTONS

Healthy Baked Chicken Wontons image

This easy chicken wonton recipe reduces the fat and calories by baking instead of deep-frying the filled wontons. Enjoy these as appetizers.

Provided by Rhonda Parkinson

Categories     Appetizer     Snack

Time 58m

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons chopped shallots
1 clove garlic, chopped
2 green onions , chopped
8 ounces ground chicken meat
3 tablespoons reduced-fat peanut butter
3 tablespoon carrot (shredded)
1 teaspoon green curry paste
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar substitute (such as ZSweet)
2 teaspoons lime juice
32 wonton wrappers

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. Spray two 9 x 13-inch baking sheets with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Heat a wok over medium-high heat. Add the oil , drizzling it down the sides of the wok. When the oil is hot, add the shallots, garlic, and green onion and stir-fry briefly. Add the chicken meat and stir-fry until the chicken changes color and is nearly cooked through.
  • Stir in the peanut butter, shredded carrots, green curry paste, soy sauce, sugar substitute, and lime juice. Remove the wok from the burner and allow the mixture to cool.
  • Fill and fold the wontons : First, set out the wonton wrappers and a small bowl filled with water. Lay out 1 wonton wrapper and place approximately 1 tablespoon of the chicken mixture in the middle.
  • Dip your finger in the water and run it along the edges of the wonton wrapper to wet it.
  • Take another wonton wrapper and wet the edges. Place it on top of the other wonton, moistened-side down, in a way that forms a star shape (i.e., the top wrapper looks like a diamond instead of a square).
  • Fold the star points from the bottom wonton over the top. Fold the star points from the top wonton under the bottom. Now you should have little packets .
  • Continue with the rest of the mixture and wontons.
  • Lay the wontons out on the baking sheets and spray lightly with more cooking spray. Bake for 14 to 17 minutes or until browned on both sides, turning halfway through cooking.

1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon canola oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger
6 cups low sodium chicken broth
1 1/2 tablespoons seasoned rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon reduced sodium soy sauce
6 ounces shiitake mushrooms
3 baby bok choy, coarsely chopped
2 green onions, thinly sliced
8 ounces ground chicken
2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
36 2-inch won ton wrappers

Spoon 1 tablespoon of the chicken mixture into the center of each wrapper. Using your finger, rub the edges of the wrappers with water. Add garlic and ginger, and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Whisk in chicken broth, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce and mushrooms. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until mushrooms have softened, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in bok choy and green onions. Stir in wontons until cooked through, about 2-4 minutes. Serve immediately.

CHICKEN AND SPINACH RAVIOLI

Chicken and Spinach Ravioli image

Homemade ravioli is nothing short of heaven. In a perfect world, I would lovingly make my pasta dough from scratch while listening to Italian music and drinking a glass of wine. My reality, however, is quite a bit different-and that's totally okay. Why? I can still make homemade ravioli and look like the superstar that I am by using a shortcut that no one needs to know about. . . wonton wrappers! Perfectly suited for ravioli, wonton wrappers are sold in both squares and rounds. Use whichever shape you prefer. The filling is creamy, cheesy and packed with spinach and chicken, making it a hearty meal. Top them with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese or, as my kids prefer, with your favorite pasta sauce. Mangiamo!

Provided by Trish Rosenquist

Categories     Chicken

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
3 cup (121 g) baby spinach
1 cup (125 g) diced rotisserie chicken
1 cup (230 g) ricotta cheese
3/4 cup (135 g) grated Parmesan cheese
2 eggs, divided and lightly beaten
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 (12 oz [340 g]) package wonton wrappers, square or round

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the spinach and cook, stirring frequently, until the spinach has wilted, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the spinach and let cool for several minutes. Once cool enough to handle, roughly chop it. Then, set aside.
  • Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Salt the water to taste.
  • Combine the diced chicken, ricotta, Parmesan and 1 egg in a medium bowl. Add the salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the chopped spinach until it's thoroughly combined.
  • Lay the wonton wrappers on a dry, flat surface. Spoon 1 to 2 teaspoons (5 to 10 g) of the filling onto the center of each wrapper. Using a pastry brush, brush the other beaten egg onto the exposed surface of the wonton wrapper, around the filling. Use the egg sparingly-one egg is MORE than enough for the job.
  • Lay another wrapper on top of the exposed filling. Starting at the center, gently press the top wrapper around the base of the filling, smoothing out to the edges of the wrapper. Be sure to eliminate any air bubbles. Repeat until all filling or wrappers have been used.
  • Drop four or five ravioli at a time into the salted boiling water. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes before removing with a slotted spoon.
  • Serve with your favorite pasta sauce or olive oil and Parmesan cheese.

BAKED CHICKEN WONTONS

Baked Chicken Wontons image

Baked Chicken Wontons are a healthier version of the classic cream-cheese wonton, with a chicken filling flavored with sesame, green onions and sriracha.

Provided by Sandra

Categories     Main Course

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 12

PAM Cooking Spray
1/2 pound chicken tenders (approximately 5)
6 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1-2 tablespoons minced shallots or yellow onion (finely diced)
2 green onions (thinly sliced)
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon sriracha
20 2- inch wonton wrappers
1 large egg (beaten)
salt and pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Spray a medium skillet with PAM Cooking Spray and add chicken; season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Place skillet over medium-high heat and cook 2 to 3 minutes; spray skillet again with PAM Cooking Spray and turn chicken over. Continue to turn chicken every 2 to 3 minutes until chicken is thoroughly cooked and becomes a golden brown, 6 to 8 minutes. Remove chicken from the skillet and cool. Once cool, roughly chop chicken and set aside.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, stir together and combine: cream cheese, shallots, garlic, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil and sriracha. Once chicken has cooled and is chopped, stir it into the cream-cheese mixture. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly oil a large baking sheet using PAM Cooking Spray. In a small bowl, add in egg and 1 teaspoon of water, whisk until frothy, and set aside.
  • Assemble wontons: Lay out wrappers on your work surface, then spoon about 1 tablespoon of cream-cheese mixture into the center (I used a small cookie dough scooper). Then, using your fingers (I use my middle and pointer fingers together), rub the edges of the wrappers with egg/water mixture. Pull up two sides and pinch in the center; bring up the other two sides, creating an "X," and seal all the edges together by pinching them. Place wonton on the prepared pan and repeat with remaining wontons and filling.
  • Placing the wontons into a single layer on the prepared pan, place in the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. NOTE: Be sure to check about 4 to 5 minutes into cooking time; you don't want to overcook these.
  • Serve immediately and devour.
  • *Cooking time of the chicken may vary depending on how thick your chicken is sliced into the chicken tenders.
