Cheese Finger Food (Halloween Lunch Box Surprise) image

Witches fingers that are a healthy Halloween treat! Fun to eat and great for the lunch box! Wear plastic gloves or sandwich baggie over hands to keep cheese smudge free as possible!

Time 5m

Yield 4 Fingers, 2-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 mozzarella string cheese
1/8 green bell pepper
cream cheese

Steps:

  • Cut each string in half and then carve a shallow area for a fingernail just below the rounded end of each half.
  • Mark the joint right below the nail as well as the knuckle joint by carving out tiny horizontal wedges of cheese.
  • For the fingernails; slice a green bell pepper into 3/8-inch-wide strips. Set the strips skin side down on your work surface and trim the pulp so that it's about half as thick. Cut the strips into ragged-topped nail shapes and apply them to the ends of the "fingers" with dabs of cream cheese.

ANTS ON A LOG (LUNCH BOX SURPRISE)

Ants on a Log (Lunch Box Surprise) image

For our 5 year olds lunch box for either snack time or lunch for his first year at kindergarten that are reasonably healthy but will bring a smile to his face when he finds them. Snacks cannot have peanuts or peanut butter this year. This recipe would also be good for long car trips.

8 ounces cheesecake cream cheese spread or 8 ounces cream cheese spread

TWO TONED SANDWICHES (LUNCH BOX SURPRISE)

Two Toned Sandwiches (Lunch Box Surprise) image

For our 5 year olds lunch box for either snack time or lunch for his first year at kindergarten that are reasonably healthy but will bring a smile to his face when he finds them. Kids tire of the same old sandwich, so I came up with this as a new and fun way to make sure he doesn't skip his sandwich!

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 2m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 2

1 slice whole wheat bread
1 slice whole grain white bread

Steps:

  • You will need two cookie cutters. A large one (that still fits within the bread slice) and a smaller cutter that will fit inside the larger cookie cutter. I used a large heart and a small star. - OR - Just use One cutter and do the center.
  • Place the 2 slices of bread on a cutting surface. Using the large cutter, cut the shape out of both slices. Using the smaller cutter, cut the center of both shapes. - OR - Just cut out one shape from each slice.
  • Swap the larger cutouts, so that the wheat bread has the large white bread design and the white has the wheat. - OR - Just swap the one you cut out.
  • Assemble your sandwich as normal.

  • Pumpkin-Shape Meatball Biscuits. This recipe is semihomemade. Purchased, frozen cooked meatballs are wrapped in a pack of refrigerated biscuits, along with cheese and pesto.
  • Spooky Strawberry Pumpkin Patch. Strawberries in orange candy coating are the "pumpkins" in this Halloween party menu pumpkin patch. A steady hand with a piping bag makes the lines on each little "pumpkin."
  • Chomping Halloween Oreo Monsters. Who knew Halloween party food could be this precious? These Halloween cookies are more adorable than scary, which makes them even more appealing.
  • Pumpkin Bread Truffles. Nothing says fall like pumpkins! Made with spiced pumpkin bread and cream cheese frosting, these tasty bites are sweet additions to your Halloween party appetizer menu.
  • Monster Mouths. Add some childhood nostalgia to your Halloween party menu. Nothing harkens back to a lunch box quite like apples and peanut butter.
  • Wicked Witch Hats. A wicked witch is definitely not sweet, and neither is her hat. Blue corn tortilla chips give these salty, cheesy, and slightly spicy Halloween appetizers their dark color, and a thin carrot peel adds some witchy style.
  • Chicken Fingers. We have quite the take on this chicken appetizer. Simple chicken breasts become Halloween party food when sliced and served with Romesco Dipping Sauce.
  • Halloween Hand. Red lace candy strings and Pirouette Cookies work together to create skeleton hands—giving a whole new meaning to Halloween finger foods.
  • Graveyard Taco Dip. Dig into this spooky graveyard—if you dare! You'll soon discover that this Halloween party appetizer is actually a tasty taco dip.
  • Mr. Bones. Get the kids involved with the Halloween party menu. Prepare the base of pressurized cheese spread on each cracker and let the kids make their pretzel skeletons.
