Even those who don't follow the latest and greatest diet fads have probably heard of celery juice by now. Influencers and celebrities are drinking it up and posting about it like crazy, insisting it's a cure-all miracle juice.

Make this simple celery juice your own by adding green chilli for a bit of heat, turmeric, or a little maple syrup to sweeten, if you like

Ingredients

1 head of celery (about 500g)
1 green apple (about 120g), peeled, quartered and cored
½-1 lemon, juiced
20g ginger, finely grated

Steps:

Separate the celery stalks and wash well. Trim the root ends and roughly chop, keeping one of the tender, young stems whole to serve.
Put the chopped celery, apple, half the lemon juice and ginger in a food processor or blender and pulse to finely chop. With the motor running, add 50-100ml cold water and blend until smooth.
Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve into a jug, pressing down with the back of a spoon to extract all the juice. Cover and chill or serve straight away. Stir the juice well, add a squeeze more lemon if you like, and serve in glasses with a piece of the reserved celery stalk.

Chop the celery and add it to a high powered blender (I use a Vitamix). Only if it is hard to blend, add up to 1/3 cup of fresh water. The water helps the celery stalks to mix and not get stuck. But please note that celery juice should be made fresh and consumed alone with nothing added to receive its healing benefits (so make sure that blade is sharp!) and see notes below on this.
If using a juicer, add the washed and prepared celery to the juicer. After it is done, pour the juice in a glass and enjoy!
