From salonrates.com
  • Brush the Wig. Before you get the wig wet, you will definitely want to brush out the wig to loosen any tangles or knots. This is important because you never want to brush a synthetic wig while it is wet.
  • Soak in Wig Shampoo and Water. Once all of the snarls are gone, it is time to wash the wig. Fill your large basin or sink with cool water. You should never use hot water as this can seriously damage the synthetic fibers.
  • Clean the Synthetic Fibers and Cap. After no more than five minutes, it is time to finish the washing. Lift your wig up and down in the water to lather the strands thoroughly.
  • Rinse Out the Shampoo. Now it is time to rinse out the wig. Once again, use cool water to rinse all of the soap suds out of the strands. Be sure to rinse the underside of the cap thoroughly so that soap will not irritate your scalp once the wig is dry.
  • Condition the Wig. Just like your natural hair, synthetic hair needs to be conditioned whenever it is shampooed so that it can remain lustrous and manageable.
  • Rinse Out the Conditioner. After conditioning, you must rinse out the product so that it does not weigh down the strands. Pay special attention to rinsing the wig cap because leftover conditioner can make the cap band slippery from the oils.
  • Dry the Wig. It is vital that you dry your synthetic wig correctly because some methods could leave the fibers fried and frizzy or could stretch out the cap.

HOW TO WASH A SYNTHETIC WIG? 4 EASY STEPS TO FOLLOW - WIGSMASTER

From wigsmaster.com
  • Detangle. Begin by brushing using short strokes to eliminate knots, tangles, and any spay buildups on the hair fibers. Brush through your wig gently from the bottom as you work your way up.
  • Soak. Take a large bowl and fill it halfway with cold water. Add one to two tablespoons of wig shampoo, depending on the buildup on your wig. In this case, use a wig shampoo for synthetic hair instead of human hair shampoo as it will damage synthetic fibers.
  • Wash. After soaking, take the wig and dip it up and down in the water. If you spot makeup debris on the cap, remove them using your fingers. You can work with a toothbrush or a soft mini brush to remove tough stains.
  • Dry. The strands of the wigs become heavy with water, and they risk stretching. Next, use a clean towel to pat the wig to manage the weight. You can also put the wig between a towel and squeeze it between your hands with care.
