GARDEN VEGETABLE SANDWICH
This is a very simple vegetable sandwich that's perfect for breakfast, or as a healthy snack at any other time of the day. Since the ingredients are so basic and readily available, it's immensely convenient for an energy booster anytime, anywhere! Besdies, it's quite a treat to the taste-buds as well :-)

Steps:
- In a small bowl, mix the chopped tomato, grated cabbage, carrot, cheese and tomato ketchup together, along with salt.
- Cover one slice of bread with this vegetable mixture and season it with pepper.
- Now put the other slice of bread on top of the vegetable-covered one, and your sandwich is ready to eat!
- You can also grill this sandwich if you like, or top it with some more grated cheese and pop it in the oven for about 5-10 minutes at 350 C.

Steps:
- Peel cucumbers and onions; put in blender until finely crushed.
- Put in cloth and squeeze out juice.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Blend cream cheese and add cucumber and onion.
- Then add mayonnaise; blend well.
- Spread on bread slices.
- Cut crusts on bread.
- Cut into 4 triangles and serve.

Great for a bridal party, meetings or any social event. Easy and quick preparation. Use either white or wheat bread. Filling may be made a day ahead and refrigerated until sandwiches are made. Recipe is easily doubled.

- Prepare cucumber by peeling and grating. Press out water from cucumber.
- In a medium bowl stir softened cream cheese with mayonnaise until fluffy.
- Add grated onions, cucumber and salt. (If filling is made ahead and refrigerated, allow to get to room temperature before preparing sandwiches.).
- Spread filling onto 7 slices of bread and top with 7 bread slices. Crust maybe be trimmed, if desired. Cut into quarters.
- Enjoy!

- Peel cucumber and slice in paper-thin rounds. Salt rounds lightly and place in colander for 15 minutes to drain. Press to release water; pat dry with paper towels.
- Spread sliced bread with softened butter. Put 2 layers of cucumber slices on bottom slice, sprinkle with finely chopped mint, salt and pepper to taste, and top with another buttered slice. Press lightly with palm of hand.
- Cut all crusts off with a sharp knife. Cut sandwiches in half diagonally and then again into quarters.
- Serve in alternate rows of brown and white bread sandwiches, points facing up!

- You can't ask for an invite. Every year, the Queen invites over 30,000 people to the parties as a way to recognise and reward public service. Those who are lucky enough to receive an invite are often involved with charities or the public sector, but British residents can't apply to attend.
- The parties originally had a different name. Although the events have always taken place in the afternoon, the first garden parties hosted by Queen Victoria were known as "breakfasts".
- Each party lasts for around three hours. The Royal Family's website informs invitees that the garden opens at 2:30pm, while the front gates to the Palace open at 3pm on the day of each party.
- There's a dress code. The Palace encourages guests to dress up. There's a chance for a meeting with the Queen, after all. Men are advised to wear morning dress or lounge suits, while women should attend in day dresses, with hats or fascinators.
- Cups of tea, slices of cake and sandwiches are served in the thousands. Around 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches and 20,000 slices of cake are consumed at each garden party.
- Rain doesn't stop play. Thanks to the unreliable British weather, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh often arrive for their walkabout armed with umbrellas.
- Special garden parties are added to the calendar each year. The Queen often gives permission for special garden parties to take place each year. One is held for the Not Forgotten Association, a charity for wounded, injured or sick ex-servicemen and women, which this year, will be hosted by Prince Harry.
