Baked Brie In A Bread Bowl Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: sourdough bread bowl, brie cheese, olive oil, white wine, garlic, bacon, pepper, fresh chive, potato chip, mini potato, spaghetti, carrot

Provided by Gwenaelle Le Cochennec

Categories     Sides

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 sourdough bread bowl
7 oz brie cheese, 1 wheel
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon white wine
4 cloves garlic, minced, divided
2 strips bacon, cooked and chopped
pepper, to taste
fresh chive, chopped, to taste
potato chip
mini potato
spaghetti
carrot

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • Cut off the top of the bread boule so the top surface is flat and without crust. Slice the crusty top into sticks and set aside.
  • Set the brie wheel on top of the bread and cut out a hole for the brie. Set the brie aside and remove the cut out bread.
  • In a small bowl, mix the olive oil with 2 cloves of garlic and brush over the bread. Set the boule aside.
  • Carefully cut the top rind off of the brie wheel. Place the brie, cut-side up, inside the bread and set it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Scoop out about a tablespoon of the center of the brie and pour the white wine into the divot.
  • Top the brie with the remaining minced garlic and chopped bacon, and season with pepper. Arrange the bread sticks next to the bread on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15- 20 minutes, until the brie is completely melted.
  • Sprinkle with chives.
  • Dip the bread sticks and any other dipping items you'd like in the brie.
  • To reheat, bake the brie at 250°F (120°C) for about 15 minutes, until melted.
  • Enjoy!

BRIE AND APPLE PANINI

Brie and Apple Panini image

Provided by Giada De Laurentiis

Categories     main-dish

Time 50m

Yield 4 sandwiches

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/4 cup olive oil
2 shallots, chopped
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 large Pink Lady apples, diced small
1 teaspoon lemon zest (from 1 lemon) plus 1 tablespoon lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
4 ciabatta rolls, sliced in half horizontally
1 pound Brie, sliced into 1/4-inch slices

Steps:

  • Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons olive oil to the pan along with the shallots and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cook, stirring often, until soft and fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add the apples and stir to coat in the oil. Add the lemon zest, juice and remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir well to coat the apples in all the flavors. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples begin to brown and are cooked through, about 8 minutes. Stir in the basil and set aside to cool slightly.
  • Meanwhile, lay the ciabatta halves out so they are open-faced. Scoop out some of the inside of the bread and discard. Divide the Brie evenly among the halves, about 3 slices per half, tearing them as needed to cover the bread. Divide the apple mixture on the bottom halves of each sandwich (approximately 1/4 cup per sandwich). Place the tops on the sandwiches and press slightly to close.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil to the skillet along with 2 sandwiches. Place a lid smaller than the skillet on top of the sandwiches and press down gently. Cook until golden brown on the first side, about 3 minutes. Flip the sandwiches and repeat on the second side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Repeat with the remaining oil and sandwiches. (Alternatively, you can use a panini press.) Serve warm.

Pan Fried Brie with Peppered Honey and Olives image

A great quick-and-easy appetizer for any occasion that's gone within minutes.

Provided by Tieghan Gerard

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/4 cup honey
1/2-1 teaspoon black pepper (plus more for serving)
1 (8-10 ounce) Brie wheel
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 cups mixed olives, pitted
2 tablespoons thinly sliced lemon zest ((from about 1 lemon))
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
2 tablespoon drained capers
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves, plus more for serving
crackers and/or bread, for serving

Steps:

  • 1. To make the honey. Combine all ingredients in a glass jar.2. To make the Brie. Whisk the egg in a shallow bowl. Add the Panko to a separate shallow bowl. Dip the Brie through the egg, turning to coat on all sides, remove and allow any excess to drip off. Dredge the Brie through the Panko, turning to coat and pressing gently to adhere. Transfer the Brie to the freezer, freeze 15-20 minutes. 3. Meanwhile, heat 1/4 cup of olive oil, the olives, and crushed red pepper flakes together in a medium skillet set over medium heat. Simmer 5 minutes, until lightly fried. Add the lemon zest, capers, and thyme, and cook another 5 minutes, until the lemon is fried. Remove from the skillet to a serving bowl. 4. To the same skillet add the remaining 1/4 cup olive oil. Remove the Brie from the freezer and place in the skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until golden brown. If your Brie punctures, don't stress, just keep cooking. Carefully transfer the Brie to a serving plate.5. Serve the Brie warm, topped with fried olives and honey. Enjoy with crackers or bread.

BAKED BRIE BREAD BOWL

Baked Brie Bread Bowl image

Provided by Jeff Mauro, host of Sandwich King

Categories     appetizer

Time 30m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 sourdough bread boule
One 8-ounce Brie wheel, double cream preferred
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons habanero pepper jelly
Pinch kosher salt
Pomegranate seeds, for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Slice off the top third of the bread boule and set aside. Place the Brie wheel in the center of the bread and cut around to "trace" the outline of the Brie in the bread; be careful not to go all the way through the bottom. Remove the center part of the bread that was traced out and cut into 1-inch pieces for dipping. Brush the oil along the inside exposed bread. Spread the pepper jelly on the bottom and sprinkle with salt. Cut slices in the side of the bread about halfway down and about 1 inch wide all the way around. This will create tearable pieces to enjoy later.
  • Cut the top layer off the Brie and discard, then place the Brie in the bread. Cover with the bread top and bake until the cheese is melty and the bread is crusty, about 20 minutes. Top with a sprinkling of pomegranate seeds. Serve with the bread and fruit or veggies if desired.

JAMIE'S BAKED BRIE

Jamie's Baked Brie image

My ex-wife Jamie's been making this savory Brie en croute since way back before we were married. I think she must have gotten the idea from a magazine, but I've never seen the recipe... I just wing it. It can be made with either puff pastry sheets (quick and easy) or phyllo sheets (more work, flakier shell). Serve with fancy table crackers or digestive biscuits.

Time 35m

Yield 25

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 shallot, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ teaspoon white pepper
1 tablespoon dry vermouth
1 (8 ounce) round Brie cheese
3 sheets phyllo dough
2 tablespoons melted butter

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Stir the shallot, garlic, white pepper, and vermouth together in a small bowl; set aside. Cut the rind off the top of the brie cheese, leaving a 1/4-inch lip around the edge. Place the brie cheese onto a baking sheet, and spoon the shallot mixture over top. Fold the phyllo sheets in half to make square pieces. Wrap the brie with the phyllo squares, tucking the edges underneath of the brie cheese. Trim the corners if needed to avoid tucking too much pastry underneath. You want complete enclosure, but without too much overlap. Brush the top with melted butter to make the pastry brown in the oven.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the phyllo has turned golden brown and the brie cheese is very soft, about 20 minutes. Serve warm.
