Two-minute breakfast smoothie image

Whizz up a low fat breakfast smoothie in no time. Use banana with other soft fruit, plus honey for a little sweetness and oats for slow-release fuel

1 banana
1 tbsp porridge oats
80g soft fruit (whatever you have - strawberries, blueberries, and mango all work well)
150ml milk
1 tsp honey
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Put all the ingredients in a blender and whizz for 1 min until smooth.
  • Pour the banana oat smoothie into two glasses to serve.

4 ounces plain soy milk
2 tablespoons mixed cereal, such as wheat flakes or oats
1 tablespoon mixed seeds, such as sunflower or pumpkin
1 tablespoon raisins
2 pitted dates, chopped
2 teaspoons honey

Steps:

  • Put half of the ice into a blender. Add half of the soy milk, the cereal, seeds, raisins and dates. Blend until smooth. Add the remaining ice, honey and soy milk. Blend again until the mixture is creamy and smooth. Serve in a glass with a straw.

  • To prep the cauliflower, butternut squash and zucchini, fill the bottom of a large pot with 2 inches of water, add a steamer basket and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to medium, add the chopped veggies and cover. Steam for 7-9 minutes, until lightly steamed but still firm with a crunch. You don't want them to be fully steamed and soft.
  • Transfer steamed veggies to a parchment lined baking sheet and allow to cool completely. Transfer to the freezer and freeze for 1 to 2 hours. Remove the tray from the freezer and transfer veggies to a reusable freezer bag like this one HERE. Store for up to 3 months in the freezer.
  • In a high speed blender, add in all ingredients and blend on high for 30-60 seconds or until smooth and enjoy!
