- In a medium saucepan, combine milk, bulgur, raisins, salt, and 1 cup water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until bulgur is tender and mixture is the consistency of oatmeal, 10 to 15 minutes.
- Divide between 2 bowls; sprinkle with brown sugar. Serve porridge warm with strawberries, if using, and milk to taste.

Steps:
- Coat a large skillet with cooking spray, and place over medium heat. Add mushrooms and onions; cook and stir for about 4 minutes, just until mushrooms begin to give up their juices. Stir in bread cubes and oyster sauce; cook and stir 1 minute. Remove mixture from pan, and set mixture aside to cool. Wipe pan clean.
- Beat egg, and mix into mushroom mixture. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Coat skillet with cooking spray, and place over medium heat. Spoon mixture into skillet in 6 equal amounts. Brown one side, flip over, and brown other side. Serve.

Though I do love my morning bowl of oatmeal, there are days when I want to have something different. This promises all the benefits of a grain based breakfast with a twist in flavor. Found this untried recipe in an old stack of recipes clippings and posting it before I loose track of it again.

Steps:
- Place the bulgur, pear nectar, 1 cup of water, bulgur, cinnamon nutmeg and salt into a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Add the diced pears, mix, and cover pan. Reduce heat to a very low flame and simmer until liquid is absorbed and bulgur is tender, about 12-15 minutes.
- Spoon into 4 bowls and top each with 2 tablespoons vanilla yogurt.

ROASTED BREAKFAST PEARS
For a sweet breakfast or a fruit dessert, top roasted pears with Greek yogurt, granola, and toasted almonds.

- Preheat oven to 350°F. Halve pears; core. Using a melon baller, scoop out a 1-inch depression in the center of each pear. Brush cut sides with lemon juice.
- Spread butter in the bottom of a 2-quart rectangular baking dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar and salt; add orange juice. Arrange pear halves, cut sides up, in a single layer in the baking dish.
- Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or just until pears are tender, spooning cooking liquid over pears several times during baking time (baking time depends upon ripeness of pears).
- Remove from oven; stir vanilla into cooking liquid. Let cool completely. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours or up to 24 hours, turning pears in liquid at least once during chilling time.
- To serve, in a small bowl stir together yogurt and maple syrup. Spoon the mixture into each pear half. If desired, sprinkle with additional orange peel. Serve with granola and toasted almonds.
