CRISPIEST AIR FRYER BREADED CHICKEN BREASTS
Learn how to make the crispiest chicken breasts ever in the air fryer. It's so easy to do with Panko breadcrumbs, and you don't need any oil.

Steps:
- Remove the chicken breasts from the packaging and pound them into an even thickness. If your air fryer has a metal rack, set it in the tray. Cooking the chicken on the rack promotes crispy chicken.
- Whisk together flour, 1/2 teaspoon of the salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of the pepper. Pour it out onto a plate.
- Add the egg to a bowl.
- Whisk the Panko breadcrumbs together with the remaining salt and pepper. Pour that out onto an additional plate.
- Dip the chicken breasts into the flour mixture, then the egg, and then the Panko mixture until all of the pieces are coated.
- Lay the chicken on the rack in your air fryer if you're using one.
- Slide the tray into the air fryer, and turn the dial to 350°F. Set the timer for 22 minutes.
- The chicken should have an internal temperature of 165°F before serving and it will be golden brown and delicious.

CRISPY BREADED AIR FRYER CHICKEN BREAST

- Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees.
- Place the chicken breast between two layers of parchment paper. Use a rolling pin or meat mallet to gentle press the chicken so it's an even width throughout. Dry the chicken breasts off with paper towel.
- Pour the oil onto the chicken (I do this right on the parchment) and rub all over, coating it equally. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
- Combine the rest of the ingredients in a small bowl, shaking together. Pour onto a large rimmed plate.
- Cover each of the chicken breasts well with the panko mixture, and then place onto the mesh basket of your air fryer, making sure to leave room between the breasts - they would not be touching.
- Spray the tops of the chicken with cooking spray and cook 8 minutes. Gently flip and cook another 6-8 minutes until the chicken is crispy and golden and an instant read thermometer reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit inserted into the chicken

- Preheat the air fryer to 390°F.
- In a medium bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with oregano, paprika and garlic powder until well combined.
- Spray the chicken with cooking spray, then dredge in the breadcrumbs mixture. Shake off excess breading. Repeat for the remaining chicken.
- Spray the air fryer pan with cooking spray. Then spray the outside of the breaded chicken with cooking spray, if desired. Place the chicken in the basket of the air fryer, without over crowding the pan. You may need to work in batches.
- Cook 5 minutes. Turn chicken and spray with additional cooking spray; cook until chicken is golden brown, about 4-7 more minutes. Cook time will depend on the size and thickness of your chicken breasts.
- Remove and enjoy immediately with a side salad, if desired.

AIR FRYER FRIED CHICKEN
Making fried chicken in an air fryer is a revelation. You can achieve a crispy crust and juicy interior without all the steps of deep-frying. A soak in seasoned buttermilk adds extra flavor-as little as 1 hour will make a difference, but overnight is even better. Because of the capacity of a standard air fryer, we cook the chicken in batches. You can rewarm the first batch in a 250-degree oven for 10 minutes if you'd like to serve it all hot at once.

- Combine the buttermilk, garlic, 1 tablespoon salt and 2 teaspoons pepper in a large resealable plastic bag or container. Add the chicken pieces, seal and refrigerate at least 1 hour and up to overnight, turning the bag once or twice.
- When you are ready to cook the chicken, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, 1 tablespoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper in a shallow bowl or dish. Stir well with a fork to combine. Drizzle 2 to 3 tablespoons of the buttermilk mixture from the bag over the flour and toss well to create small lumps throughout.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade. Spray the basket of a 3.5-quart air fryer with olive oil cooking spray and preheat to 360 degrees F.
- Dredge 3 thighs and 3 drumsticks in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess. Place the pieces in the preheated air-fryer basket, skin-side up without touching. Spray the chicken generously with the cooking spray and air fry until the chicken is cooked through and the crust is crisp and deep golden, about 27 minutes. Check on the chicken halfway through to spray any spots that still look floury with more cooking spray and flip the drumsticks only.
- When the chicken is done, remove it from the air fryer and season lightly with salt. Repeat the dredging and air-frying process with the remaining chicken. if you like, rewarm the first batch in an oven at 250 degrees F for 10 minutes before serving.
AIR-FRIED BREADED CHICKEN THIGHS
Wonderfully crisp and juicy air-fried chicken thighs. These won't get crispy all the way around on the bottom, but it's an easy oil-free way to get that crunch on top with just a few steps. Let the air fryer do all the work!

- Place chicken thighs and buttermilk in a non-reactive container with a lid or a resealable plastic bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Remove chicken from the refrigerator. Pour off buttermilk and let chicken rest on the counter while preparing the breading mixture.
- Combine flour, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, salt, onion powder, and black pepper in a large, shallow bowl or pie plate; whisk or stir with a fork until evenly combined.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375 to 380 degrees F (190 to 195 degrees C). Spray air fryer basket lightly with nonstick spray.
- Once air fryer is hot, press chicken thighs, 1 at a time, into the breading mixture and make sure breading sticks onto all sides as much as possible. Gently set into the air fryer basket. Repeat until all thighs are breaded and in the basket. Do not stack them on top of each other.
- Set air fryer for 25 minutes. When the time is up check temperature with an instant-read thermometer. Internal temperature should be 180 degrees F (82 degrees C). If they aren't quite done but the breading is getting dark, just close the basket again and let them rest, or you can turn the air fryer on again for a few minutes and check again. Serve immediately.

- Place beaten egg in a shallow bowl, add flour to another bowl. Combine bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, flax seed meal, lemon zest, oregano, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
- Dip each chicken breast into flour, then egg, and lastly bread crumb mixture, fully coating the chicken on both sides. Set coated chicken breasts into an air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you might need to cook them in batches.

- Coat the chicken in the oil and set aside. In a bowl, combine the salt, garlic, paprika and mixed herbs with a good grinding of black pepper, then scatter onto a plate.
