I make this birds nest recipe in the spring when the birds are starting to build their own nests. They are so easy to make and disappear just as fast. -Pam Painter, Poseyville, Indiana

1/4 cup butter, cubed
4-1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
4 cups chow mein noodles
1 cup jelly beans or candy eggs

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and marshmallows until smooth, stirring occasionally. Add the peanut butter and chocolate chips; heat and stir for 2 minutes or until smooth. Remove from the heat; stir in chow mein noodles until well coated. , Divide into 12 mounds on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet. Using fingers, shape each into a nest; press an indentation in the center of nest. Fill each nest with three or four jelly beans or candy eggs. Cool.

These easy chocolate nests are the perfect Easter treat. They're simple enough for kids to get involved and they need just three ingredients

200g milk chocolate , broken into pieces
85g shredded wheat , crushed
2 x 100g bags mini chocolate eggs
cupcake cases

Steps:

  • Melt the chocolate in a small bowl placed over a pan of barely simmering water. Pour the chocolate over the shredded wheat and stir well to combine.
  • Spoon the chocolate wheat into 12 cupcake cases and press the back of a teaspoon in the centre to create a nest shape. Place 3 mini chocolate eggs on top of each nest. Chill the nests in the fridge for 2 hrs until set.

Fun Spring Treats! Kids love them. Use a 6 or 12 cup muffin tin depending on desired size of nests. We made only 6 nest with this recipe so we could overlap the top and give an "edge" for our bird to sit on. You could serve these right away or wrap them in a pretty cellophane bag and give them as a gift.

4 cups crunchy chow mein noodles
1/4 cup butter
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 (8 ounce) package candy coated chocolate eggs
6 marshmallow peeps
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Use a 6 or 12 cup muffin tin depending on desired size of nests. We made only 6 nest with this recipe so we could overlap the top and give an "edge" for our bird to sit on.
  • Heat butter and marshmallows over medium heat.
  • Stir till melted.
  • Add noodles and stir till completely coated.
  • Spray muffin tin then hands with cooking spray.
  • Place mixture into muffin cups and shape with hands to form "nests".
  • Refrigerate.
  • Approximately 30 minutes later, gently remove nests from muffin tin and perch a Peep on the side. (It helps if the nest is still a bit sticky, this will "glue" the peep on.).
  • Place nests on a tray and put back in the fridge till completely set.
  • Fill with candy eggs.

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup butter, softened
½ cup sifted confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup chopped pecans
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Combine flour, butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt in a bowl to form a dough; stir in pecans.
  • Shape dough into a large ball and refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet.
  • Make an indentation with thumb in the middle of each ball, forming a 'nest'.
  • Fill each nest with about 1 teaspoon chocolate chips.
  • Bake nests in the preheated oven until edges are crisp (cookies will not brown), 10 to 12 minutes. Cool cookies on a wire rack, about 15 minutes.

Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cupcake mix box
2 cups shredded coconut
8 drops green food color
1/3 cup dulce de leche (caramelized sweetened condensed milk)
1 container (1 lb) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy cream cheese frosting
1/2 cup speckled pastel-colored malted milk balls

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Place paper baking cup in each of 12 regular-size muffin cups.
  • Make cupcake mix as directed on box, using water, oil and eggs. Fill muffin cups one-third full with batter, using about 2 tablespoons in each. Squeeze filling pouch 20 times; cut off corner of pouch at cut line. Divide filling equally among cupcakes, making sure filling does not touch sides of muffin cups. Evenly distribute remaining batter among cupcakes, making sure filling is completely covered.
  • Bake 24 to 29 minutes or until surface of cupcakes appears dry. Cool 20 minutes; remove cupcakes from pan to cooling rack.Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • Place coconut in resealable food-storage plastic bag; add food color. Seal bag and shake to mix; set aside. In medium microwavable bowl, microwave dulce de leche on High 10 seconds; stir. Stir in frosting with spatula until swirled. Frost cupcakes. Sprinkle with green coconut. Top with malted milk balls.
