BIRD'S NEST BREAKFAST CUPS

Bird's Nest Breakfast Cups image

BIRD'S NEST BREAKFAST CUPS

Bird's Nest Breakfast Cups image

I got the basics of this recipe from a friend of mine and thought it was a great idea since these little nests can be made ahead, which I love. They are delicious, easy to make, and can be customized to your own tastes. I not only use the recipe as a delicious grab-and-go breakfast, but serve it to guests nestled into some lovely cheese grits, alongside fresh fruits and French toast made on a panini press. Oh, and don't forget the mimosas!

BIRDS NEST BREAKFAST CUPS

Birds Nest Breakfast Cups image

Bird's Nest Breakfast Cups are a fun way to eat eggs and hash browns for breakfast. These baked egg cups combine hash browns and cheese to form a "nest" and are topped with an egg.

Provided by Melissa Williams | Persnickety Plates

Categories     Breakfast

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 6

16 oz frozen hash browns (thawed)
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
12 eggs
cooking spray
salt and pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Spray muffin tin generously with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, add hash browns, olive oil, cheddar cheese, and salt and pepper and mix together.
  • Divide hash brown mixture between 12 muffin cups (use a cookie scoop to make your life easier). Each one will hold a generous ¼ cup.
  • Press the hash browns in to the muffin tin. Make a small depression in the middle, shaping it into a nest.
  • Generously spray the tops of the hash brown nest with cooking spray.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the hash browns are golden brown. Keep an eye on them for the last few minutes to ensure they don't burn. Let the hash brown nests cool for about 15 minutes.
  • Reduce the oven temperature to 425 degrees.
  • Crack an egg into each nest.
  • Bake for 12 minutes, or until the whites are set and the yolk is your desired doneness.
  • Serve warm. Add salt and pepper to taste.

BIRD IN THE NEST

Bird in the Nest image

There are so many names for this one, but if you like toast and fried eggs you probably have a version of it. It makes a quick and easy breakfast that satisfies as the yolk soaks into crusty bread. My favorite here has sweet bites as well as savory ones. (Note: using both the oven and the skillet keeps from burning the...

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 slice favorite bread for toast
2 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 eggs
1 pinch kosher salt
1 pinch fresh ground pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Take bread slices and cut out hole in the center with a biscuit cutter.
  • 2. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Spread half of the butter on the bread and then sprinkle the cinnamon mixture on top. Broil in oven until lightly browned.
  • 3. Place remainder of butter in a hot non-stick skillet and place toast slices (browned side up)in immediately. Crack an egg into each of the center holes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • 4. Cover the skillet so the yolk will cook without having to turn the bread over. Cook on medium high until the egg is over easy or over medium.
  • 5. Place the toast on a plate and drizzle with pure maple syrup or honey.

BIRD NESTS

Bird Nests image

Fun Spring Treats! Kids love them. Use a 6 or 12 cup muffin tin depending on desired size of nests. We made only 6 nest with this recipe so we could overlap the top and give an "edge" for our bird to sit on. You could serve these right away or wrap them in a pretty cellophane bag and give them as a gift.

Provided by JamiLeigh

Categories     Dessert

Time 37m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups crunchy chow mein noodles
1/4 cup butter
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 (8 ounce) package candy coated chocolate eggs
6 marshmallow peeps
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Use a 6 or 12 cup muffin tin depending on desired size of nests. We made only 6 nest with this recipe so we could overlap the top and give an "edge" for our bird to sit on.
  • Heat butter and marshmallows over medium heat.
  • Stir till melted.
  • Add noodles and stir till completely coated.
  • Spray muffin tin then hands with cooking spray.
  • Place mixture into muffin cups and shape with hands to form "nests".
  • Refrigerate.
  • Approximately 30 minutes later, gently remove nests from muffin tin and perch a Peep on the side. (It helps if the nest is still a bit sticky, this will "glue" the peep on.).
  • Place nests on a tray and put back in the fridge till completely set.
  • Fill with candy eggs.

BIRDS IN A NEST

Birds in a Nest image

Provided by Rachael Ray : Food Network

Time 15m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil, eyeball it
1 large clove garlic, cracked
6 big, thick slices crusty Italian semolina bread
6 extra large eggs
1 (6-ounce) jar roasted red pepper
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup grated cheese, Parmesan or Romano

Steps:

  • Place a very large nonstick skillet over low heat. Add the oil and garlic clove into the skillet and gently infuse the garlic flavor into the oil. In the meantime, using a round cookie cutter or an empty can, cut out the center of all 6 slices of bread. Add the prepared bread slices to the garlic infused oil. Crack the eggs 1 at a time and drop them into their "nests" or, the center of each slice of bread. Drain and slice red pepper. Add a strip or 2 of red pepper to each nest. Season the birds in their nests with salt and pepper and sprinkle a little cheese into each nest. Gently turn the birds in their nests and turn off the heat. Let the eggs sit in their nests 5 minutes more, then transfer to a platter and serve.

  • Put your milk chocolate, peanut butter, and semi-sweet chocolate chips in a large microwave-safe bowl, such as a glass bowl. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between. Continue this process until the mixture is fully melted and has a smooth consistency when you stir it.
  • Add your Frosted Flakes, and mix them just until they’re coated with the melted chocolate mixture.
  • Cover your baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a cookie scoop or other spoon, spoon your “nests” onto the parchment paper. After each scoop, use the back of the spoon to make a small divot in the cookie. This is where your “eggs” will go. At this point, you can also sprinkle with any sprinkles you desire. We used green sprinkles.
  • Top each nest with 2 Whippers Mini Robin Eggs or any other candy that looks like eggs. When you’ve completed all the nests, place your baking sheet in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set these no-bake cookies.

PARAKEETS KEEP THROWING EGGS OUTSIDE THEIR NEST – LAFEBER ...
If you have an open nest, this is the wrong kind of nest. The birds need to be at least 2 years old – if they are younger, this can be why they throw out the eggs. The birds need a balanced diet, not a seed mix, as well as greens, veggies, fruits and an egg food. The cage should be in a quiet place where they do not see people except when you feed them. If you …
