11 BEST FIZZY WATERS FOR YOUR HIGHBALL, RANKED
From liquor.com
Estimated Reading Time 5 mins
- Fever-Tree ($36 for 6.8-oz 24-pack) It feels like a splurgy celebrity seltzer, but it's one that delivers. It earned high marks across the board for flavor, fizz and finish.
- Topo Chico ($3 for 12-oz bottle) This Mexican brand is the darling of the cocktail world. And no wonder: It packs a huge mineral punch to go along with its absurdly large long-lasting bubbles.
- Schweppes ($4 for 12-oz 12-pack) When the name of your fizzy water actually sounds like gas bubbles hissing in the glass, you know you’re doing something right.
- Canada Dry ($4 for 12-oz 8-pack) You know it more for its ginger ale, but Canada Dry also does a good club soda. Upside: It has tons of carbonation with large bubbles that shoot through the glass as if trying to escape a police raid.
- Q ($18 for 7.5-oz 12-pack) The self-dubbed “spectacular club soda,” Q mixes a damn solid highball. It’s also a damn salty one. As much as we were impressed by its carbonation and long shelf life, the “dash of Himalayan salt” overpowered the honey flavors in the Toki.
- Mountain Valley ($30 for 750-mL 12-pack) From the thick one-liter glass bottle to the Old West-looking label, everything about this bubbly screams winner.
- LaCroix ($4 for 12-oz 8-pack) Unflavored LaCroix is the Stephen Baldwin of sparkling beverages: It’s hard to stomach knowing there are better versions in the family.
- Perrier ($15 for 17-oz 24-pack) There was a time when ordering a Perrier was the most French thing you could do besides smoke cigarettes and eat steak frites.
- Voss ($28 for 11.15-oz 24-pack) It’s a Shake Weight. No, it’s a rolling pin. No, it’s a tall Norwegian man stroking your hair beneath the strobe of a Las Vegas nightclub.
- S. Pellegrino ($18 for 17-oz 24-pack) We honestly expected more from the Italian bubbly behemoth, but nothing about it lived up to the reputation. The carbonation was weak and the mineral content basically nonexistent.

- SodaStream. The Customizable One. Value: 19/20. Flavor Range: 20/20. Quality: 19/20. Aesthetics: 15/20. Taste: 17/20. Total: 90/100. We know, it’s an unconventional pick.

- Topo Chico. The One Our Food Editor Dreams Of. Value: 20/20. Flavor Range: 15/20. Quality: 20/20. Aesthetics: 19/20. Taste: 20/20. Total: 94/100. “Topo Chico, please sponsor me,” says food editor Katherine Gillen.
- Bubly. The Most Inexplicably Irresistible. Value: 16/20. Flavor Range: 18/20. Quality: 16/20. Aesthetics: 18/20. Taste: 17/20. Total: 85/100. If it’s all just water to you, maybe you need a can of Bubly.
- La Croix. The Most Accessible. Value: 16/20. Flavor Range: 20/20. Quality: 16/20. Aesthetics: 18/20. Taste: 17/20. Total: 87/100. She’s a standby for good reason: so many flavors, so much crisp carbonation and wide availability.
- Spindrift. The One That Has Actual Fruit in It. Value: 18/20. Flavor Range: 18/20. Quality: 20/20. Aesthetics: 19/20. Taste: 19/20. Total: 94/100. Wow, this tastes like real lemon, we’re thinking as we sip a lemon-flavored Spindrift.
- AHA Sparkling Water. The Best Mixer. Value: 18/20. Flavor Range: 18/20. Quality: 18/20. Aesthetics: 17/20. Taste: 19/20. Total: 90/100. For those who can never decide between flavors, we recently discovered AHA on a Target run and have since fallen for the sheer variety and bold combos each can offers.
- Sanzo Sparkling Water. The Best Flavors. Value: 18/20. Flavor Range: 17/20. Quality: 20/20. Aesthetics: 20/20. Taste: 20/20. Total: 95/100. OK, let's start off by stating the obvious: Flavor is a personal preference.
SPARKLING WATER RANKED: BEST CLUB SODA, SELTZER ...

- LaCroix natural pure sparkling water. The gold standard. Those other seltzers can try, but they'll never match the crystal-clear perfection, the effortlessly graceful carbonation, the unparalleled thirst-quenching powers encased in this modest blue can.
- Glaceau smartwater sparkling. Smarty-pants over here appears way too carbonated, its tiny bubbles elbowing their way to the top like a bunch of little capitalists racing up the corporate ladder.
- Schweppes club soda. Like some sort of mouth hug, Schweppes' velvety, microscopic bubbles embrace my tongue with the reassuring geniality of a cool autumn breeze.
- Adirondack sparkling seltzer water. Adirondack exploded all over my computer like a pissed-off fire hydrant when I opened it, which made me hate it. But then it actually tasted like freshly melted snow so we're fine now.
- Canada Dry original sparkling seltzer water. Canada Dry's micro-bubbles smack against the back of my throat in crashing waves, the initial shock ebbing to reveal a sweet, sandy beach beneath.
- Polar 100% natural seltzer. When I first tried to twist this sucker open, it sputtered and hissed like a rattler stuck in a burlap sack. But after it calmed down a bit, I found it to be perfectly flavorless, ending with a subtle bitter wash that kept me coming back for more (albeit cautiously).
- Saratoga sparkling spring water. Based on the design, I assumed this to be some half-ass Pellegrino clone, but it actually leaves my mouth feeling fresher than a 90-second Listerine gargle.
- Mountain Valley sparkling spring water. Though I liked the old-school Americana label, Mountain Valley immediately lost points for its heavy glass bottle -- what poor thirsty soul wants to carry that bowling ball around?
- Whole Foods 365 club soda. The first swig is refreshing and very soda-like, with a drying, ever-so-slightly salty finish that makes me want to shotgun the entire can...
- Poland Spring sparkling original. Imbibing Poland Spring's sharp, dense carbonation feels like getting your mouth scrubbed out with Irish Spring -- painful yet somehow strangely comforting, like a lesson learned.
WE TASTED 10 FLAVORED SPARKLING WATER BRANDS & THIS IS THE ...
From eatthis.com
- Waterloo – Strawberry. A relative newcomer to the seltzer world, Waterloo was launched in 2017 and has 12 different flavors. We tasted the strawberry. Waterloo got top marks from the two tasters in both flavor and texture.
- Schweppes – Raspberry-Lime. Schweppes claims to have launched the world's first soft drink in 1783 with its tonic water. It offers eight flavors of sparkling water, and we tried the Rasberry Lime.
- Perrier – Strawberry. Perrier has been around since 1863 when the company started bottling sparkling mineral water. Naturally, this brand jumped on the sparkling water bandwagon.
- AHA – Rasberry-Acai. AHA is Coco-Cola brand's sparkling water line and the flavors are all blends with some containing caffeine. We tried the Rasberry-Acai.
- Bowl & Basket – Raspberry. Bowl & Basket is the Shop Rite store brand, and the raspberry flavor beat some of the other sparkling waters by being just fine.
- Poland Spring – Twist of Triple Berry. Poland Spring began shipping spring water in 1845, but its flavored sparkling water line didn't come out until much later.
- bubly – Blackberry. In 2018, Pepsi finally dipped its proverbial foot into the sparkling water pool. The bubly line has 16 flavors "with essences and extracts," and the cans are fun, bright colors.
- Polar – Raspberry Lime. Polar has been in the seltzer-making game since 1882. The company now carries about 20 different flavors with some seasonal flavors thrown in.
- La Croix – Cran-Raspberry. This cult-classic beverage was founded in 1981, and probably has the most variety of flavors of all the brands. We counted 19 plus, not including the new Curate and NiCola lines.
- S. Pelligrino – Blood Orange & Black Raspberry. S. Pellegrino has been producing world-class sparkling mineral water for 120 years, but its foray into the flavored sparkling water world is more recent.
