2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 loaf (1 pound) French bread
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 cups sour cream
2 tomatoes, seeded and diced
1 large green pepper, diced
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a skillet, brown ground beef and onion. Drain. Add salt, garlic powder and pepper. , Cut bread lengthwise in half; butter both halves and place on baking sheets. Remove meat mixture from heat; stir in sour cream. Spoon onto the bread. Sprinkle with tomatoes, green pepper and cheese. , Bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted (bake longer for crispier bread).

1 (1 pound) loaf French or Italian-style bread
¼ cup chopped green onions
1 tablespoon milk
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
1 green bell pepper, sliced in rings
1 pound ground beef
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
¾ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter, softened
2 tomatoes, sliced
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Cut loaf in half. Wrap in foil and heat at in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees) oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high cook beef and green onions until beef is cooked through; drain. Stir in milk, garlic powder, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper to taste. Heat but do not let boil.
  • Butter cut surface of bread. Spread with half of meat mixture on each half. Arrange tomatoes and green bell pepper alternately on top and sprinkle with cheese.
  • Place on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 5 minutes or until heated through completely.

1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles, cooked and drained
6 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 onion, chopped
¼ cup butter
2 pounds lean ground beef
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 cup sour cream
salt and black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook egg noodles in boiling water until done, about 8 minutes. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. In a large skillet, cook mushrooms and onions in 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until soft; remove from pan.
  • Using the same pan, melt remaining butter. Cook ground beef in melted butter until browned. Mix in flour. Stir in beef broth, and cook until slightly thickened. Add mushroom and onion mixture; stir in sour cream. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Continue cooking until sauce is hot, but not boiling. Serve sauce over egg noodles.

A delicious sandwich with the rich flavors of classic Russian Beef Stroganoff, served on a warm bun. I like this with a slice of tomato on the meat, under the bun top, for a little added juicy flavor.

1 pound Beef ((Top Round Steak or similar))
3 tablespoons Butter
2 cups sliced, fresh Mushrooms
1/4 cup Flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 cup Sherry ((plus extra, as needed during cooking))
2 heaping tablespoons Diced Pimientos, drained
1/2 cup Sour Cream
4 Sandwich or Hamburger Buns

Steps:

  • Slice the Beef against the grain into 2-inch to 3-inch thin strips.
  • Melt Butter in a skillet over medium heat (Note: use a skillet or saute pan that has a tight fitting lid).
  • Add the sliced Mushrooms to the pan and saute until lightly browned. Remove Mushrooms into bowl and set aside, leaving remaining Butter in the pan.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the Flour and Salt. Roll the Beef strips in the Flour mixture to completely coat.
  • Add the flour-coated Beef to the remaining Butter in the pan and brown over medium heat.
  • Turn down heat to low, pour Sherry over meat in pan and cover tightly with lid. Turn your heat very low to gently simmer until very tender - at least one hour, we like two hours plus. (Note: check occasionally to make sure there is still liquid, and add more Sherry if needed.)
  • Mix in the sauteed Mushrooms, Pimientos, and Sour Cream. Heat thoroughly.
  • While your Stroganoff continues to heat, warm your Sandwich Buns (we like to wrap the Buns in foil and warm up in a 250 degree oven). If you are using a softer type of bun (such as a regular Hamburger Bun), toast the buns on the cut sides before warming.
  • Spoon the Stroganoff over the Bun bottoms and place Bun tops on top of the meat. Serve and enjoy!

  • Lay beef between two sheets of parchment paper and tenderize with a rolling pin. Slice into thin strips or bite-sized pieces and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • In a large skillet over high heat, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add half the beef, brown on all sides, then transfer to a plate. Repeat with the remaining oil and beef.
  • Turn the heat down to medium-high, add 3 tablespoons butter, 1 tablespoon paprika, and 1 thinly sliced onion and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add 200 grams sliced mushrooms and cook until caramelized, scraping the bottom of the skillet as they cook.
  • Add 2 tablespoons flour and cook, stirring for 1 minute.
  • While stirring, add 1 cup beef broth. Once combined, add the remaining 1 cup broth and 3 tablespoons tomato paste if using.
  • Mix in 1 teaspoon mustard and ⅔ cup yogurt. It will look like it has separated, but that's OK - it will combine as it heats up. Bring to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low and simmer until the sauce thickens. Now you can either add in the broccoli to the sauce as it thickens or cook the broccoli in the water with pasta. Add the broccoli 3 minutes before the end of pasta cooking time.
  • Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to packet instructions until al dente.
  • Season with salt and black pepper to taste and add the beef back in. Simmer for another minute, then remove from the heat.
  • Serve over pasta. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley and enjoy!

1 lb ground beef
1/4 c onion, chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder (i use more)

1 c sour cream, plus more

1 box garlic texas toast

  • 1. Brown beef & onion in skillet, drain & leave beef in skillet. Add salt, garlic powder & pepper.
  • 2. Remove skillet from heat and add sour cream.
  • 3. Spoon good amount (use your own judgement) onto the Texas toast. Sprinkle cheese (again, use your own judgement) over beef mixture.
  • 4. Bake @ 350 for approximately 15-20 minutes or until bread edges begin to lightly brown.
  • 5. Serve with a dollop of sour cream on top. You can also sprinkle diced tomatoes &/or bell peppers on top. Sauted mushrooms would also be good.

1.2 lb scotch fillet steak or boneless rib eye
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
1 large onion, sliced
10 oz mushrooms, sliced
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoon flour
2 cups beef broth, preferably salt reduced
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2/3 cup sour cream
Salt and pepper
8 - 10 oz pasta or egg noodles of choice
Chopped chives, for garnish

Steps:

  • First, you want to flatten the steaks to about 1/3" thick with the use of your fist, rolling pin, or mallet.
  • Now slice the steaks into 1/5" strips, and if there are any long ones then cut them in half and make sure to discard excess fat, after that sprinkle with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Next, heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over high heat, then scatter half the beef in the skillet and make sure to quickly spread it with tongs.
  • Let the beef cook for about 30 seconds untouched until browned, then quickly turn it quickly as best you can, then Leave untouched for another 30 seconds to brown.
  • Now immediately remove the beef onto a plate, don't worry if you see few pink bits, that's fine.
  • Next, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and repeat with the remaining beef.
  • You want to turn the heat down to medium-high then add melt, butter, and onions, cook for 1 minute, then mushrooms need to be added and cooked until golden.
  • After that scrape the bottom of the frypan to get all the golden bits off, then add flour and cook while stirring for about 1 minute.
  • At this point, you want to add half the broth while stirring, once incorporated, add the remaining broth and start stirring then add sour cream and mustard.
  • Stir until the mixture is incorporated, don't worry if it looks split as the sour cream will melt as it heats.
  • Bring to simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, once the stroganoff sauce thickens reached the consistency of pouring cream (it should take about 3 to 5 minutes) you can adjust salt and pepper to taste.
  • Next, add the beef back in alongside the plate juices and simmer for 1 minute, then remove from stove immediately.
  • Finally serve your Ina Garten Beef Stroganoff over pasta or egg noodles, also sprinkled with chives if desired.

Freshly ground black pepper
1 pound flank steak
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Kosher salt
3 portobello mushrooms, stems removed
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for oiling the grill grates and drizzling
1 large yellow onion, sliced into 1/4-inch-thick rounds
Four 1/2-inch-thick slices rustic country bread
1 clove garlic, halved
1/2 cup fresh parsley leaves
Juice of 1/2 lemon

Steps:

  • Prepare a grill or grill pan for medium-high heat. Cut a 30-by-12-inch piece of aluminum foil.
  • Mix together the sour cream, mustard and a few grinds of pepper in a small bowl. Cover and set aside.
  • Rub the flank steak all over with the Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Drizzle the mushroom caps with 1 tablespoon of the oil.

  • Grill the bread slices until you see grill marks and some char, 30 seconds to 1 minute per side. Rub each grilled slice with the cut side of a garlic clove. Drizzle with oil.
  • Assemble the open-faced sandwiches: On each slice of bread, spread 1 tablespoon of the sour cream sauce. Top with the steak, mushrooms, onions, another tablespoon of sauce and parsley. Finish with a squeeze of lemon juice and some salt and pepper.
