RUSTIC MEAT AND BEAN POT

Steps:
- Preheat broiler to high. Place sausages on a broiler pan and cook 6 inches from heat source 15 minutes turning once.
- Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn around the pan, and chopped bacon. Cook bacon 1 minute, then add chicken and pork and brown cubes on all sides, 3 minutes. Season meats with thyme, salt, and pepper, and add garlic, vegetables, and bay leaf to the pot. Cook 5 minutes stirring occasionally, then deglaze pan with the wine.
- Slice sausages on an angle and add pieces to the pot on the stove. Stir in tomatoes and beans and heat them through. Adjust seasonings and remove pan from heat.
- Broil the split baguette until golden. Rub bread with cracked garlic and drizzle with oil. Coarsely chop bread and scatter the chunks around the edge of the pan. Serve the cassoulet directly from the hot pot at the table.

- Gather the ingredients.
- Brown ground beef in a skillet
- Drain off fat and put beef in slow cooker/crock pot.
- Brown bacon and onions.
- Drain off fat from the bacon and onions.
- Add bacon, onions and remaining ingredients to slow cooker/crock pot.
- Stir together well.
- Cover and cook on low 4 to 9 hours.
- Serve and enjoy!

- In a large skillet over medium high heat, saute the ground beef, onion and bacon for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the meat is browned and the onion is translucent; drain excess fat.
- In a 3 quart casserole dish combine the vinegar mustard ketchup brown sugar green bell pepper kidney beans chili beans pork and beans and the meat mixture.
- Stir together until well blended.

- In a large pot or skillet brown the ground beef with onions, garlic, celery, jalapeno peppers and chili flakes until the beef is no longer pink; drain fat.

- Heat oven to 375°F. Grease bottom and side of 1 1/2-quart round casserole with shortening. In 10-inch skillet, cook beef over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain. Stir in beans, tomato sauce, brown sugar and onion. Pour into casserole; set aside.
- In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients until soft dough forms; beat vigorously 20 strokes. On surface dusted with Bisquick mix, gently roll dough in Bisquick to coat. - Cut four 20x3-in. strips of heavy-duty foil; crisscross so they resemble spokes of a wheel. Place strips on the bottom and up the sides of a 5-qt. slow cooker. - Heat a large non-stick pan, add the beef then fry over a medium-high heat until browned, stirring often and breaking up any lumps with a spoon. Crumble in the stock cube and mix well.
- Add the vegetables, stir to mix with the beef and pour in enough boiling water (about 1.3 litres) to cover. Bring to the boil, then lower the heat and stir well. Cover the pan and simmer gently for about 30 mins or until the vegetables are tender.
