These Chicken Burgers are perfectly seasoned, stuffed with cheddar cheese, and basted in barbecue sauce, creating a juicy, flavorful burger.

1 pound ground chicken (dark or white meat)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup barbecue sauce (plus additional for serving)
2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese (diced into tiny cubes or shredded)
1 cup homemade coleslaw
4 buns

Steps:

  • Heat grill to medium-high heat. Alternatively, heat a nonstick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates or pan with oil to keep the burgers from sticking.
  • Place the ground chicken into a large mixing bowl and add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, ¼ cup barbecue sauce, and diced cheese. Mix together until just combined and ingredients are evenly distributed, being careful to not overmix the chicken.
  • Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape it into patties that are slightly larger than the bottom of a hamburger bun. Place a thumbprint into the middle of each burger, to help prevent shrinkage and even cooking.
  • Grill or cook for 5 minutes. Flip the burgers, and continue to cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken burgers reach 160 degrees F.
  • Remove the burgers to a plate and brush with additional barbecue sauce. Tent with foil and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. This will allow the burgers to reach 165 degrees F.
  • Serve the burgers on buns with coleslaw or as desired.

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 tablespoon canola oil
4 burger buns
Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickled red onions, extra cheddar, extra BBQ sauce

Steps:

  • Mix together burger ingredients in a medium bowl until combined. Do not overmix. Shape burger mixture into 4 equal sized patties.
  • Heat canola oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook 6-7 minutes, then flip and cook an additional 5-6 minutes, until cooked through.

1 tablespoon butter, cut into pieces
1 small red onion, 1/2 finely chopped, 1/2 thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, eyeball it
1 tablespoon hot sauce, eyeball it
1 1/4 pounds ground chicken
1 tablespoons grill seasoning (recommended: McCormick brand) a palm full
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
2 tablespoons honey, eyeball it
1 lemon, juiced
3 rounded tablespoons sweet pickle relish
2 cups shredded cabbage mix
Salt and pepper
4 cornmeal Kaiser rolls, split

Steps:

  • In a small skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add chopped onions, garlic and tomato paste and sweat them for 5 minutes to soften and sweeten. Sprinkle in sugar and remove from heat. Cool in a bowl, 5 minutes. Add tomato paste mixture, Worcestershire, hot sauce to bowl and combine. Add chicken to the bowl then grill seasoning and combine the burgers well to evenly distribute the flavors and form 4 patties. Wash up.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, a turn of the pan, in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties 6 minutes on each side.
  • Combine the honey, lemon juice, and remaining extra-virgin olive oil in a bowl. Add relish, cabbage mix and sliced onions and season with salt and pepper. Toss the slaw to coat and reserve.
  • Serve burgers on bun bottoms topped with slaw and bun tops.

4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
4 rashers bacon (optional)
4 large burger buns , sliced in half
lettuce , tomato and red onion, to serve
4 tbsp tomato ketchup
4 tbsp brown sauce
splash chilli sauce (optional)
2 tsp clear honey
2 garlic cloves , crushed

Steps:

  • Make the sauce and marinade by mixing everything together in a large bowl, then put a few spoonfuls aside. Slice halfway into the thickest part of each breast and open it up like a book. Flatten down slightly with your hand, then toss in the bowlful of marinade to coat. Chill for as little, or as long, as you have time to.
  • Barbecue the chicken for about 10 mins until completely cooked through, turning so it doesn't burn but is nicely charred and sticky. Cook the bacon at the same time until crisp, if using, and toast the buns. Assemble the burgers with lettuce, slices of tomato, onion and the reserved sauce on the side for dolloping on top.

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon hot sauce
Olive oil, for lightly coating the chicken
4 chicken cutlets, pounded to 1/2 inch thick
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
8 potato buns
Mayonnaise, for spreading
1 medium red onion, sliced
16 bread-and-butter pickle slices

Steps:

  • For the barbecue sauce: In a medium saucepot over medium heat, add the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, dark brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, dry mustard, onion powder, hot sauce and 1 cup water and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook until the sauce is thickened, about 1 1/2 hours.
  • For the chicken: Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat.
  • Lightly drizzle some olive oil onto the chicken to prevent the chicken from sticking to the grill pan. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. When the grill pan is hot, add the chicken and cook until char marks appear and the chicken is cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  • Toss the chicken with the barbecue sauce. Let simmer on low until ready to serve, to infuse the chicken with the flavor of the sauce.
  • For the sandwich: Spread an even layer of mayonnaise on the top and bottom of a potato bun, add the chicken, a few red onion slices and 2 bread and butter pickles. Top with the other half of the potato bun.

1 onion, chopped
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
1 tomato, seeded and chopped
2 carrots, chopped
2 pounds ground chicken
1 egg
½ cup fresh bread crumbs
1 tablespoon Old Bay (tm) Seasoning
kosher salt to taste
black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil grate.
  • Lightly spray a saute pan with cooking or oil spray over medium heat. Saute the onion with the garlic first, then the bell pepper, then the mushrooms, tomatoes and carrots, all to desired tenderness. Set aside and allow all vegetables to cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chicken and vegetables. Add the egg, bread crumbs and seasonings to taste. Mix all together well and form into 8 patties.
  • Grill over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes per side, or to desired doneness.

1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup diced celery
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup salsa

1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

2 cups shredded cooked chicken

  • In a large saucepan, saute the onion, celery and garlic in butter until tender. 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
3 tsps olive oil or avocado oil
For serving:
homemade BBQ sauce
fresh lettuce leaves
tomato, sliced
red onion, sliced
pickles

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, olive oil, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Shape your mixture into 4 patties, then allow your burgers to rest for 5-10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, preheat your BBQ grill or indoor grill pan to medium-high. Carefully brush the grill or grill pan with avocado oil.
  • Grill your burgers for about 5 minutes on each side or until they are nicely browned and no longer pink in the center.
  • Place each patty (burger) on a piece of lettuce with sliced tomato, pickles, and onion, top with a Tablespoon of your BBQ sauce, and another lettuce leaf or two.

1/3 cup barbecue sauce
1/3 cup grape jelly or 1/3 cup seedless raspberry jam
3 cups frozen waffle cut French-fried potatoes or 3 cups frozen thick cut French-fried potatoes
4 slices ready-to-serve cooked bacon, chopped
2 tablespoons dry breadcrumbs, finely chopped
2 tablespoons honey-roasted walnuts or 2 tablespoons almonds, finely chopped
1 tablespoon barbecue sauce
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
8 ounces uncooked ground chicken or 8 ounces uncooked ground turkey
1/2 cup shredded monterey jack pepper cheese or 1/2 cup shredded gorgonzola
snipped fresh chives
8 dinner rolls or 8 cocktail-sized hamburger buns, split
sliced tomatoes
sliced lettuce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F Combine the 1/3 cup barbecue sauce and the jelly or jam. Mix with a wire whisk until smooth. Set aside.
  • Arrange waffle-cut potatoes or thick-cut french fried potatoes in a single layer on an ungreased baking sheet. Sprinkle with chopped bacon. Bake for 8 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a bowl combine bread crumbs, nuts, the 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce, poultry seasoning, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper. Add ground chicken; mix well.

  • To serve, sprinkle fries with snipped chives. Place mini burgers in cocktail buns with additional barbecue-jelly mixture spooned over. Top with tomato slices and/or lettuce.
