These super moist, frosted banana bars are the perfect dessert for any occasion! Bake in a 9×13 pan and top with smooth cream cheese frosting for the perfect dessert for a crowd!

1/2 cup butter (softened)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
3/4 cup sour cream ((8oz tub))
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cornstarch (this mades them more moist but if you don't have it, you can leave it out)
2.5 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
1.5 cups mashed bananas ((about 2-3 large bananas))
8 oz cream cheese (softened)
1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3.5 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray metal 9x13" pan with nonstick cooking spray and lightly dust with flour (or cover in parchment paper). See notes below for baking in jelly roll pan.
  • In a small mixing bowl, mash bananas with a fork until broken up. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth (about 1 minute). While the mixer is on low, add in the eggs, sour cream, vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt. Add cornstarch and flour and mix until combined. Lastly, mix in mashed bananas until incorporated; do not overmix.
  • Pour batter into greased 9×13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 28-30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Top should be slightly golden brown, as shown in the photo above. Allow bars to cool completely before frosting.

1-1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)

4 cups confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in the eggs, bananas and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into creamed mixture just until blended., Transfer to a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack., For frosting, in a small bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy. Add confectioners' sugar and vanilla; beat until smooth. Frost bars.

You didn't hear it from us, but Banana Bars with cream cheese frosting will fly off the plate, so make sure to save yourself a few before serving them.

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup mashed very ripe bananas (2 medium)
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom and sides of rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches, with shortening. In large bowl, mix granulated sugar, bananas, oil and eggs with spoon. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Spread in pan.
  • Bake bars 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • Meanwhile, in medium bowl, mix cream cheese, butter and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until blended. Gradually beat in powdered sugar with spoon, scraping bowl occasionally, until smooth and spreadable.

1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 T. butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
9 ounces cake flour (about 2 1/4 cups)
3/4 t. baking soda
1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 c. nonfat buttermilk
1 t. vanilla extract
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
2 large eggs
Baking spray with flour

FROSTING:
1/4 c. butter
2 c. powdered sugar
1/3 c, (3 ounces) 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, softened
1 t. vanilla extract
1/4 c. chopped pecans, toasted

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400°. 2. To prepare bars, combine banana, brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon butter in an 8-inch square baking dish. Bake at 400° for 35 minutes, stirring after 17 minutes. Cool slightly. 3. Reduce the oven temperature to 375°. 4. Weigh or lightly spoon cake flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine 9 ounces (about 2 1/4 cups) flour, soda, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Combine banana mixture, buttermilk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla in another medium bowl. Place 1/2 cup butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed until well blended. Add eggs to granulated sugar mixture; mix well.
