1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. gnocchi
1 cup mozzarella cheese
1 15 oz. can tomato sauce
1/2 cup white onion (diced)
3 cloves garlic (minced)
1 cup broccoli (steamed and chopped)
1/4 tsp dried basil or 1 tbsp fresh chopped
1/4 tsp dried oregano or 1 tbsp fresh chopped
1/4 tsp dried parsley or 1 tbsp fresh chopped
1/4 tsp salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, add ground beef, onions and season with salt. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until beef is browned. Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute. Drain off excess grease.
  • Add tomato sauce, broccoli and remaining seasonings and cook over low for about 5-7 minutes.
  • While sauce is on low, cook gnocchi according to the package instructions.
  • In a 9x13 baking dish, add 1/3 of the sauce on the bottom. Toss the gnocchi on top of the sauce and then pour the remaining sauce on top. Sprinkle the top with the mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes until cheese is melted and slightly golden.

This hearty dish served family style, offers a grown-up twist on macaroni and cheese. We like the flavor and melting qualities of fontina or Taleggio cheese, but you can substitute cheddar, Gruyere, or another favorite.

1 cup heavy cream
6 ounces fontina or Taleggio cheese, grated (about 1 1/2 cups)
Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Unsalted butter, for baking dish
1 tablespoon coarse salt
Potato Gnocchi

Steps:

  • Heat cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until just simmering. Add two-thirds of the cheese; stir until melted. Stir in nutmeg and the pepper. Remove from heat; cover to keep warm.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter an 8-inch square baking dish; set aside. Bring a large pot of water to a boil; add the salt. Add half the gnocchi; when they rise to the top (after about 2 minutes), continue to cook until tender, about 15 seconds more. Transfer gnocchi with a slotted spoon to buttered dish. Repeat process with remaining gnocchi.
  • Pour cheese sauce over gnocchi, and gently toss. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Bake gnocchi until golden brown, about 25 minutes

1/2 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1 large onion, finely chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 cans (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
1 to 2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
GNOCCHI:
2 cups mashed potato flakes
1-1/2 cups boiling water
2 large eggs, beaten
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Grated Parmesan cheese, optional

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, cook the beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes to allow flavors to blend., Place potato flakes in a large bowl; stir in boiling water until blended. Stir in eggs. Add flour and salt all at once; stir just until combined. Divide into fourths; turn each onto a floured surface. Roll into 3/4-in.-thick ropes; cut ropes into 3/4-in. pieces., Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil. Cook gnocchi in batches for 30-60 seconds or until gnocchi float. Remove with a slotted spoon. Place in a large bowl; top with sauce. Gently stir to coat. Sprinkle with cheese if desired.

1 pound Gnocchi ((homemade or store-bought, my store-bought Gnocchi said cooked in 2 minutes))
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup grated Fontal cheese ((or Gruyere))
fresh thyme
WHITE SAUCE
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup milk ((I used 2%))
1 tablespoon flour
pinch salt
1/4 teaspoon basil
1/4 teaspoon oregano

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 425°, lightly oil an 8 x 6 inch baking dish.
  • In a large pot of boiling salted water add the Gnocchi, remove as soon as the Gnocchi float (no more than 30 seconds) and drain well.
  • In a medium pot over medium heat melt butter, then add flour and salt, combine with a whisk, add milk slowly and continue to stir until thickened (but not too thick, if it becomes too thick add a little extra milk), stir in oregano,basil and pepper. Remove from heat. Stir in half the Fontal (or Gruyere cheese) and 1/2 the Parmesan cheese, then gently add the Gnocchi.
  • Place in baking dish, sprinkle with remaining Fontal cheese and Parmesan cheese, top with fresh thyme if desired. Bake for 3-5 minutes then broil for another 3-5 minutes. Let sit a couple of minutes before serving. Enjoy!

1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 jar (24 oz.) CLASSICO Spicy Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce
2/3 cup KRAFT Shredded Italian* Five Cheese Blend

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Cook gnocchi as directed on package, omitting salt.
  • Meanwhile, brown meat in large nonstick skillet on medium heat. Drain meat; return to skillet. Stir in pasta sauce. Bring to boil, stirring frequently. Simmer on medium-low heat 5 min., stirring occasionally.
  • Drain gnocchi. Add to meat sauce; mix lightly.
  • Spoon into 2-qt. casserole sprayed with cooking spray; top with cheese.
  • Bake 25 min. or until heated through.

  • Make the sauce: Preheat the oven to 435F°. In a large oven-safe skillet, cook the bacon. Pour off all but 1 tbsp of the fat and add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, and garlic. Simmer for 5 minutes. Reduce the heat to low, and stir in the sour cream, paprika, salt, pepper, and parsley.
