BACON CHEESEBURGER CRESCENT RING

Bacon Cheeseburger Crescent Ring image

Have your golden, flaky crescent rolls and eat your cheeseburger too: This crowd-pleasing ring is filled with beef and all your favorite burger toppings--bacon, cheese, pickles and a special sauce.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 1h15m

Yield 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

3/4 cup ketchup
3/4 cup mayonnaise
40 dill pickle chips, finely chopped, plus 16 whole dill pickle chips (from a 32-ounce jar)
1/3 cup yellow mustard
6 strips bacon, chopped
Half small red onion, finely chopped
1 pound ground beef
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Nonstick cooking spray, for the pan
Two 8-ounce tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough
5 slices American cheese, cut in half
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Stir together the ketchup, mayonnaise, chopped pickles and mustard in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  • Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until golden and crispy, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Drain all but 1 tablespoon of bacon drippings from the skillet. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, 2 to 3 minutes. Add in the ground beef, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper and cook, breaking the meat up with a wooden spoon and scraping up any brown bits in the pan, until golden brown in spots and cooked through, 5 to 6 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl and let cool slightly, about 15 minutes. Stir in 3/4 cup of the ketchup sauce.
  • Coat the back of a baking sheet with cooking spray. Unroll both cans of crescent dough and separate unto 16 triangles. Put a 5-inch ramekin in the center of the prepared baking sheet. Arrange the triangles in a ring around the ramekin so the short sides of the dough are touching the ramekin, overlapping slightly, and the pointed ends are facing outward (it should look like a giant sun).
  • Spoon the beef mixture over the short ends of the triangles closest to the ramekin. Cover the beef with the cheese slices. Top the cheese with the pickle slices. Remove the ramekin. Take hold of the pointed end of one of the triangles and fold it up and over the filling, tucking the tip under the bottom edge of dough to secure (the dough will not cover the filling completely but should cover the pickle slice). Repeat with the remaining triangles (there will be some gaps where you can see the beef mixture).
  • Bake until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 25 minutes. Brush the ring with butter and sprinkle on the sesame seeds. Let cool for 15 minutes. Use a spatula to slide the ring off the baking sheet onto a platter. Serve with the remaining ketchup sauce.

SPECIAL BACON WRAPPED BURGERS

Special Bacon Wrapped Burgers image

This is one of the best burgers I've ever had! I must give credit to my co-worker Allen for the basic recipe.....he grilled them for a casual dinner party and I pestered him for hours to get the 'secret'. I've now perfected my own version and frequently serve them up fully dressed and folded into large lettuce leaves for a fun low-carb meal.

Provided by FolkDiva

Categories     Meat

Time 35m

Yield 4 burgers, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/3 lbs ground beef (I use ground sirloin)
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup sweet barbecue sauce (look at those ingredients and find one WITHOUT the high fructose corn syrup!!!)
4 -6 slices bacon
salt (to taste)
pepper (to taste)
tony chacheres spicy cajun seasoning (or your favorite grilling seasoning, to taste)

Steps:

  • Fire up the grill (adding a little hickory to the coals adds some extra flavor).
  • Mix raw beef, chopped onion, barbeque sauce and salt/pepper until thoroughly blended. (*Option if you have kids who will not eat visible onion is to mince the onion in a food processor rather than chopping. They will never know!).
  • Form 4 large, thick 1/3 lb burgers.
  • Wrap each burger's circumference with a strip of uncooked bacon and secure with a couple of toothpicks. (*Option if you prefer crisp bacon is to precook the bacon to about half done, let it cool slightly and then wrap each burger. With this method, the bacon is somewhat shrunk so two slices may be needed to surround each burger. It's a little messier prep, but the bacon ends up nice and crisp by the time the burgers are fully cooked.).
  • Once wrapped you can flatten them out a little bit with the palm of your hand. The bacon will 'stretch' to accomodate the sirloin mixture.
  • Sprinkle each side with your favorite grilling spices.
  • Grill 10 minutes or so on each side or just until center is perfectly pink. (*I also get great results broiling in an iron skillet. Just be sure to place your rack on the highest setting and preheat both the oven and the skillet at 500 degrees before switching over to 'broil' and adding the burgers to the hot skillet. This way, you should not even have to flip the burgers -- juicy and delicious!).
  • Dress as you like and enjoy! (Don't forget to remove the toothpicks!).

BACON-WRAPPED ONION RINGS.

Bacon-Wrapped Onion Rings. image

From Parade magazine. I have not made these but they look great. The quantity of bacon will depend on the size of the onions, I think. Original recipe did not give measurements for most ingredients.

Provided by duonyte

Categories     Pork

Time 1h45m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 large sweet onions
dry rub seasonings (like McCormick Grill Mates)
2 lbs thinly-sliced bacon
prepared barbecue sauce
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
2 teaspoons lime juice
1/2 teaspoon paprika
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Slice onions into 1/2 inch thick slices and separate into rings. Dust with dry spice rub of your choice.
  • Wrap each ring with a slice of bacon, smaller rings may need only 1/2 slice. Secure the bacon with a toothpick.
  • Sear the wrapped onion rings directly over hot coals for about 1 minute per side, then move to the cooler side of the grill and cook, covered, for about an hour or until the bacon is crispy.
  • Mix the Dipping Sauce ingredients and set aside.
  • When the bacon is crispy, brush with barbecue sauce and continue to cook for about 15 minutes, to set the sauce.
