CROCKPOT QUAIL RECIPE

8 cut up quails
1 cup flour
1/2 cup peanut oil
21 oz (2 cans) cream of chicken soup
21 oz (2 cans) cream of celery soup
29 oz (2 cans) chicken broth
1/2 cup dry white wine
2 thinly sliced white onions
2 bay leaves
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
to taste salt
to taste pepper

Steps:

  • Rinse the quails. Pat them dry and season with salt and pepper to taste. Afterwards, coat them with flour.
  • On a skillet, start heating the peanut oil. Once hot, brown the dredged quails.
  • Transfer the quails to the slow cooker, and combine with soups, broth, wine, onions, and bay leaves. Cook on High for 4 hours. Then, reduce heat to Low for 7 to 8 hours, or until birds are tender.
  • Remove bay leaves. Add the cheese and cook for 30 minutes more.
  • Serve over rice or noodles. Enjoy!

8 quail, cut up
1 cup flour
1/2 cup peanut oil
2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans cream of chicken soup
2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans cream of celery soup
2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans chicken broth
1/2 cup white wine, dry
2 white onions, thinly sliced
2 bay leaves
1/3 cup parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Rinse the birds and pat dry inside and out, season with salt and pepper to taste and coat with flour.
  • Brown in hot peanut oil in a skillet.
  • Combine the quail with the soups, broth, wine, onions, and bay leaves in a slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours and then reduce heat to low for 7 to 8 hours or`til birds are tender.
  • Remove bay leaves add the cheese and cook for 30 min more.
  • Serve over rice or noodles.

8 whole quail, skin on
1 (20 ounce) can sliced pineapple, drained,juice reserved
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons dijon-style mustard
1 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 small lemon, thinly sliced
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Arrange quail, breast side down, in 10 inch square baking dish or 3-quart casserole; set aside.
  • In small bowl, blend pineapple juice, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, rosemary and cornstarch.
  • Pour juice mixture over quail.
  • Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
  • Turn quail breast side up; arrange pineapple and lemon slices over quail.
  • Baste with sauce.
  • Bake until quail are tender and juices run clear, 15-30 minutes longer.
  • Arrange quail and pineapple slices on platter.
  • Strain sauce if desired; salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve over quail.

6 quail
1 tablespoon salt
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon dry sherry or 1 tablespoon rice wine
1 tablespoon light soy sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 240C degrees /475F degrees .
  • Rinse quail, then dry them well with kitchen paper and rub each one inside and out with a little salt.
  • Mix the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Rub each of the quail inside and out with this sauce.
  • Put the quails in a small roasting pan and put them into the oven for 5 minutes. Then turn the heat down to 180C degrees /350F degrees and continue to roast the birds for another 20 minutes.
  • Turn off the oven and leave them there for another 5 minutes.
  • Take them out of the oven and let them rest for another 10 minutes before serving.
  • Serve the quails whole or joint into breast and legs.
  • Arrange on a warm platter.

6 quail, cleaned and split down the back
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
oil (for frying)
3 tablespoons flour
1 cup water (or 1/2 c milk and 1/2 c water)
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Spread the quail open and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Combine the 1/4 c flour, 1 t salt and 1/2 t pepper.
  • Dredge the quail in the seasoned flour.
  • Pour oil to 1/4" depth in the skillet and heat.
  • Add the floured quail to the oil when it's hot and brown on both sides.
  • Remove the quail from the skillet.
  • Combine the 3 T flour, 1 c water (or milk and water), and 1/2 t salt.
  • Add to the drippings in the skillet and stir to combine.
  • Add the quail back in the skillet.
  • Add enough water to come halfway up the quail.
  • Cover and reduce the heat to low.
  • Simmer for 30 minutes or until the quail is done and the gravy has thickened.

Mom got me some quail so I got a basic idea of how long to cook quail and made this up based on most bird recipes. It was great tasting and tender.

6 deboned quail
4 slices chopped bread
1/4 cup cooked turkey sausage (or other meat ground of chopped)
1/4 teaspoon sage
2 tablespoons onions
4 celery leaves
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 -5 finely chopped mushrooms
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 finely chopped apple
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons melted honey
1 tablespoon soya sauce

Steps:

  • Cook sausage and mix in the bread,.
  • Sauté veggies and herbs in butter until tender.
  • Mix into bread with chicken broth and apple until moist and stuff quail (wrap and secure with small skewers or just lay under the quail) Place in baking tray and put in over breast down for 30-35 minutes at 325°F.
  • I basted them about every 8 minutes with basting sauce.

2 tablespoons pomegranate molasses
1 tablespoon orange marmalade
1 lime, juice and zest of
2 cloves garlic, crushed
salt & freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Marinate quail in remaining ingredients 2 hours.
  • Heat oven and tray to 220c.
  • Remove quail from marinade, strain and reserve.
  • Place quail skin-side down on heated tray and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Turn and cook a further 5 minutes (or until cooked to your liking) to crisp and brown skin.
  • Meanwhile heat marinade to boiling and cook on a low heat to reduce by half.
  • Serve quail with a little of the syrup spooned over.
