1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, cubed
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 cup chopped pecans
12 slices Italian bread (1/2 inch thick)
2 large tart apples, peeled and thinly sliced
6 large eggs
1-1/2 cups milk
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
CARAMEL SAUCE:
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 tablespoon light corn syrup

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter and corn syrup; cook and stir over medium heat until thickened. Pour into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish; top with half of the pecans, a single layer of bread and remaining pecans. Arrange apples and remaining bread over the top. , In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, salt and nutmeg. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight., Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until lightly browned., In a small saucepan, combine the sauce ingredients. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened. Serve with French toast.

8 cups cubed French bread
3 medium tart apples, peeled and chopped
1 envelope (.74 ounce) instant spiced cider mix
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1-3/4 cups 2% milk, divided
2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
1/2 cup milk chocolate English toffee bits
5 eggs
CARAMEL SYRUP:
1-1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup butter, cubed
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Place half of the bread cubes in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with apples and sprinkle with cider drink mix. In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugars, 1/4 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth. Stir in toffee. Spread over apples. Top with remaining bread cubes., In another bowl, whisk the eggs and remaining milk and vanilla. Pour over top. Cover and refrigerate overnight., Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving., Meanwhile, in a Dutch oven, combine the sugar, buttermilk, butter, corn syrup and baking soda. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture turns a golden amber color, about 7 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. Serve with French toast.

Steps:

  • Cut the bread into 1-inch (2 ½ cm) cubes.

3 eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
10 slices day-old French bread or 8 slices day old cinnamon raisin bread, about 1/2 inch thick
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.
  • Spread pie filling in dish.
  • In a pie plate, beat the eggs, milk and vanilla.
  • Dip bread slices into the egg mixture for about a minute per slice, turning once.
  • Arrange 2 rows of bread on top of pie filing overlapping slices slightly.
  • Mix cinnamon and sugar.

½ cup white sugar

  • Set a rack in the lower third of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
