AIR FRYER SPARERIBS

Air Fryer Spareribs image

We used an air fryer to turn spareribs into a quick and easy weeknight dinner. Separating the ribs helps them to fit in the fryer, cook quickly and get an even, golden crust all over. Make sure you dip them in the warm barbeque sauce immediately after they are done cooking--they'll absorb more flavor while still hot.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 1h

Yield 2 to 3 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
3 teaspoons paprika
1 full rack St. Louis-style pork ribs, separated (2 1/2 to 3 pounds)
2 cups ketchup
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup distilled white vinegar
1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce

Steps:

  • Whisk together 1 tablespoon salt, 2 tablespoons pepper and 1 teaspoon of the paprika in a large bowl until well combined. Add the ribs and toss to coat, pressing the seasoning into each rib.
  • Preheat a 3.5-quart air fryer to 350 degrees F. Transfer the ribs to the fryer basket and cook until the ribs are tender and golden brown, about 40 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine the ketchup, cider vinegar, white vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire, hot sauce, 2 teaspoons salt, 2 teaspoons pepper, 3/4 cup water and the remaining 2 teaspoons paprika in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sugar is melted and the sauce is warmed through, about 2 minutes. Cover and keep warm over low heat.
  • Once the ribs are cooked, dip each one into the sauce, letting any excess run off. Serve with the remaining sauce on the side.

Provided by Pork

Categories     Main Dishes

Time 1h30m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 baby back ribs slab
2 cups all purpose flour for batter
3/4 cup all purpose flour for dusting ribs
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking soda
12 ounces beer
2 eggs
1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
1 teaspoon black peppercorns freshly cracked
1 teaspoon chili powder ground
1 tablespoon seasoning umami seasoning blend
1 tablespoon granulated garlic or garlic powder
5 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
cooking oil spray

Steps:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  • Use a paper towel to pat as much moisture from the rack of ribs as possible. Trim and cut the pieces along the rib bones and set them aside.
  • In a large bowl, add the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, seasonings, eggs, and beer. Mix the combined ingredients until the beer batter is smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.
  • Place the prepared baby back ribs into a large bowl and toss with the remaining all-purpose flour.
  • Remove the beer batter from the fridge. Using a pair of tongs, dip each rib into the batter, gently shake off any excess, and place the rib on the baking sheet. Repeat the process until all of the baby back ribs are evenly coated.
  • Cook the ribs in batches, 5 or 6 at a time, making sure not to crowd the basket. Air fry the ribs meat side down for 20 minutes. If more cooking time is needed, turn the basket 180°, then spray the ribs with a cooking spray. Place the ribs back into the air fryer and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Use a pair of clean tongs to transfer the crispy ribs onto a paper towel or parchment paper.
  • Serve with your favorite barbecue sauce, fresh slices of jalapeños, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery, or carrots.
