ADIOS MOTHERFUCKER
The Adios Motherfucker cocktail (or the AMF drink, in mixed company), despite its vulgar name, is basically just a Long Island Iced Tea with two ingredients swapped: blue curaçao instead of triple sec, and a splash of lemon-lime soda instead of cola. The name is a holdover from the bad old days of the late 20th century, when cocktails went for shock value over quality. The Adios Motherfucker has long been a favorite at nightclubs, where it's typically viewed as an efficient way to get smashed (despite containing a pretty standard 2 oz of spirits), but in recent years its popularity has waned thanks to the growth of the craft cocktail movement. While electric blue drinks don't have a great reputation among bartenders, the Adios Motherfucker actually goes down pretty easy, all things considered. You can class it up a bit by using fresh lemon juice and simple syrup instead of sour mix (a practice we endorse pretty much unequivocally), but save the nice bottles of booze for something else-a subtle aged rum, a craft gin, and a premium tequila are just going to get lost in the shuffle of the Adios Motherfucker's mixers.

This drink is a favorite of mine when I've had a bad day and just want one good stiff drink to put me in a better mood. I used to make them lots in Portland. I introduced a few people to them during Mardi Gras too. I ALWAYS use Tequila for this drink. It adds just the right zing. Some snobby drinkers insist that the only Long Island "type" drink that should have Tequila in it is in fact a "Long Island". I don't personally agree, but you can leave it out if you want to. Just make sure to add a little more vodka in it's place.
