When I get a PRC I’m looking at handloading the 245gr Berger’s, unless it’s the 7mm. If it’s purely a hunting rifle you’d be fine sticking to 300wsm or wm, I’d personally pick wsm of the two for that. I have a 300wm thats primarily a long range target rifle, that occasionally sees some deer hunting. From snipershide.com User Interaction Count 16Estimated Reading Time 6 mins

300 PRC vs 300 Win Mag. 300 PRC and .300 Win Mag factory loads generally have similar muzzle velocities, but the 300 PRC shoots a heavier bullet with a higher BC. Therefore, 300 PRC has a slightly flatter trajectory, a little more retained energy, less wind drift, and somewhat more recoil than the 300 Win Mag. That’s how the two cartridges compare to each other in a … From thebiggamehuntingblog.com Estimated Reading Time 9 mins
The 300 prc is a different animal. Basically a more accurate 300 weatherby. Same capacity and speed maybe. I have a 300 weatherby with a 27 inch lilja 3 groove 11 twist. With 200 gr nosler partitions and norma 217 with good pressure I cronoed it at 3130 and very good accuracy. Match that. Marketing. 300 WIN MAG, 30 NOSLER AND 300 PRC ... - LONG RANGE ONLY
I have seen this with the 300 WSM over my much preferred 300 WM or 30 Nosler. I have also seen this with my 7SAUM and 7WSM over the 7 Rem mag and 7-300. Again I do prefer the larger cases especially in the 30s but that idea is waning. I used to want faster, faster, faster. Obviously that plays a role when combined with great bc. A 300 WSM is about the "real world" limit for "F-Open" for most shooters & even too much for some. - And who's to say that the 300 PRC would be as accurate in F-Class ? - Right now brass choice is very limited, and I don't claim to know a whole lot about Hornady 300 PRC brass but there is a few threads/posts already by some pretty experienced guys who've used … From forum.accurateshooter.com User Interaction Count 26Estimated Reading Time 7 mins
The .300 PRC’s case is the same diameter as the .300 Win. Mag.’s belt, and the .300 PRC has less taper and a 30-degree shoulder as opposed to the .300 Win. Mag.’s 25-degree shoulder. So even though the .300 PRC case is slightly shorter at 2.58 inches than the Win. Mag., it offers about five percent more capacity. The .300 PRC is based on the beltless .375 Ruger, itself a sound design.
