I made these one time to go with soup that we were having for dinner. I made the dough balls too big and/or let them rise too much and they ended up being huge, but they were good and they were easy to make.

1 cup very warm water
2 tablespoons very warm water
1/3 cup oil
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
3 -4 cups flour

Steps:

  • Mix warm water, oil, sugar and yeast; let rest for 10 minutes until yeast activates.
  • Add salt and beaten egg; blend well.
  • Add flour, one cup at a time until soft dough if formed.
  • Knead on a floured surface 5-10 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Shape into small balls (walnut sized) and put into a greased baking pan.
  • Let rise at least 5-10 minutes.
  • Bake at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
  • *If you have more time, you can let the rolls rise in the pan until they have doubled in size.

There is truly no smell as amazing as fresh warm bread or rolls coming out of the oven! These 30 minute dinner rolls are the perfect addition to any meal!

1 cup warm tap water
⅓ cup oil
¼ cup sugar
2 tablespoons yeast
1 egg (beaten)
1 tablespoon softened butter
½ teaspoon salt
3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour (I used closer to 3)
⅛ cup milk (room temperature)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400*F.
  • In a large bowl, combine 1 cup water, oil, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until yeast is bubbly (about 8 minutes). Stir in beaten egg, softened butter, and salt.
  • With a stand mixer or by hand, add flour, one cup at a time until you have a soft dough that isn't sticky. Knead by hand 10 minutes or 5 minutes with a stand mixer.
  • Divide dough into 18 even pieces, and form into balls. Place in a greased pan and cover with parchment paper and a kitchen towel.
  • Let rise 10 minutes in a warm place. (You can allow them to rise up to an additional 30 minutes if time allows).
  • Lightly brush with milk and bake on the middle rack for 10-12 minutes or just until browned.

2 Tbsp. yeast (I used instant)
1/3 cup oil
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
3 1/2 cups flour

Steps:

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water and sugar in a large bowl. Add in oil, salt, egg and flour until combined. (Add a little extra flour if dough is too sticky.)
  • Shape immediately into about 15 rolls and place in a greased 9x13" cake pan. Let raise for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375ºF. Bake rolls for about 15-20 minutes. Spread butter on the tops of cooked rolls for a finishing touch. Enjoy!

1/2 batch already prepared Crazy Dough (or Vegan Crazy Dough OR:)
1/2 cup (110 ml; (110 g) warm milk)
1 tsp sugar
2-3 tsp instant yeast
3 1/3 cup (500 g) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup (180 ml; (180 g) plain yogurt)
1 whole egg
2 Tbsp melted butter* (for brushing (optional))

Steps:

  • If you have already prepared Crazy Dough, skip to Step 2. Otherwise, place all ingredients in a bowl of your mixer or food processor. Mix well. You should get soft dough.
  • Divide the dough into 12 pieces. Shape them into rolls and place into baking pan. Cover the rolls with a tea towel and let rest in the 120 F (50 C) warm oven until they start expanding, about 10 minutes.
  • Heat oven to 375 F (190 C) and pop the rolls in. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until lightly browned.
  • Remove rolls from oven and brush with melted butter. Serve warm or cold.

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl or a stand mixer fitted with the bread hook, combine sugar and yeast, giving a quick stir to combine. Add warm water and allow to bloom for 10-15 minutes. The mixture should be frothy and fragrant.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a 9x13 baking dish with a cold stick of butter.
  • Add oil, egg and salt, stir to combine. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing between each addition.
  • Knead until bread comes together and slaps against the side of the bowl.
