Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 small onion, minced
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon paprika
1/2 to 1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • In a blender or food processor, combine the first seven ingredients; cover and process until blended. While processing, gradually add the oil in a steady stream. Process until thickened. Store in the refrigerator.

1/2 c sugar
1/2 c vinegar
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 small onion, grated
2 clove garlic, zested
1 c vegetable oil
1 can(s) 8oz. tomato sauce
OR 1 CAN OF CONDENSED TOMATO SOUP
1/2 tsp chinese mustard powder
OR REGULAR MUSTARD POWDER
2 tsp worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Place vinegar, onion and garlic in a blender or food processor and puree
  • 2. Take the remaining ingredients and place into a (1) one qt canning jar, add onion puree and shake until well blended.
  • 3. Make this dressing a day in advance of serving, the flavors only get better with age. This keeps 2 weeks in the fridge.

1 cup white sugar
½ cup white vinegar
1 cup vegetable oil
½ cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 ½ small onions, grated
2 cloves garlic, pressed
¼ cup crumbled blue cheese

Steps:

  • Add ketchup, sugar, vinegar, oil, lemon juice, salt, paprika, onions, garlic and blue cheese to a glass jar. Cover, shake well, and refrigerate. This will keep in the refrigerator for quite a while.

Okay, there is Italian Salad Dressing and then there is French Salad Dressing. This mix combines both for a wonderful unique result. This recipe come from more Make a Mix Cookery Cookbook, 1980 vintage.

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 tablespoons granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
1/8 teaspoon instant minced garlic
1 1/2 teaspoons dried onion flakes
1/2 cup canola oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup

Steps:

  • Mix all the dry ingredients together.
  • Keep in airtight package until ready to use (The dressing is intended so that you can make several "packets" to keep on hand. The "packet" refers to one recipe of the seasoning mix)
  • Can be stored for up to 6 months.
  • When salad dressing is needed, combine 1 packet of mix with oil, viegar and ketchup in a blender at high speed for about 7 seconds.
  • Pour into a 2-cup container with tight fitting lid and allow to stand at room temperature for about 5 hours.
  • Refrigerate 30 minutes before serving.
  • Pour over salad and enjoy.

Sweet, tangy, hint of spice, WOW! Helen categorized this Red French as a Southern thing, but she also categorized it as spicy with the 2 drops of Tabasco she called for. :)
