CRUNCHY AIR FRYER FISH



Crunchy Air Fryer Fish image

Crispy and well-seasoned fish with a cornmeal crust for a southern crunch, this fried fish is crunchy and well-seasoned no deep-frying needed.

1 lb. white fish fillets (not more than ½ inch thick)
1 large egg
½ cup yellow cornmeal
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp coarse salt
oil spray
lemon and parsley for garnish (Optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat the air fryer for at least 3 minutes to 400 F. Whisk the egg in a shallow pan. In another shallow pan, combine the cornmeal and spices thoroughly.
  • Pat the fish completely dry. Dip the fish fillets into the egg - allow the excess to drip back into the pan. Then press the fish into the cornmeal mixture until well coated on both sides.
  • Place the coated fish into the preheated air fryer basket. Spritz lightly with oil. Cook for 10 minutes - stopping midway to flip the fish to ensure even cooking. If you notice dry spots, this is the time to spritz with a bit more oil. Return the basket to the air fryer and cook 5-7 minutes or until the fish is cooked through.Once done, squeeze lightly with lemon and sprinkle with parsley or top with hot sauce as desired. Serve immediately.

1 ½ lbs. white fish filets (about ¼ to ½-inch thick)
½ cup cornmeal (medium grind)
½ cup all purpose flour (or gluten-free 1-to-1)
2 tsp. Cajun seasoning (or Old Bay)
1 tsp. paprika
½ tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. salt (to taste)
¼ tsp. black pepper
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 Tbsp. lemon juice

Steps:

  • Mix together cornmeal, flour, Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a medium-sized shallow bowl.
  • Add mayonnaise and lemon juice to a large bowl and whisk until combined.
  • Place fish filets into the mayonnaise mixture and toss until completely covered.
  • Dip each filet into the cornmeal mixture and coat all sides.
  • Place the coated fish filets into a 6-quart Air Fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 400 °F for 8-10 minutes.* Flip filets over after 5 minutes. Repeat with remaining filets.
  • You'll know the fish is done cooking when it flakes easily with a fork.
  • Serve Air Fryer Fish with Tartar Sauce, Remoulade, or Secret Sauce.

Crumbed fish is one of my favorite fried items, and this air-fried version of the recipe gives me great flavor without the fat.

1 cup dry bread crumbs
¼ cup vegetable oil
4 flounder fillets
1 egg, beaten
1 lemon, sliced

Steps:

  • Preheat an air fryer to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Mix bread crumbs and oil together in a bowl. Stir until mixture becomes loose and crumbly.
  • Dip fish fillets into the egg; shake off any excess. Dip fillets into the bread crumb mixture; coat evenly and fully.
  • Lay coated fillets gently in the preheated air fryer. Cook until fish flakes easily with a fork, about 12 minutes. Garnish with lemon slices.
