SPARKLING WHITE SANGRIA



Sparkling White Sangria image

With sparkling wine and fresh fruit, this white sangria is pretty and festive -- perfect for a party!

1 ounce (2 tablespoons) brandy or cognac
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier
⅓ cup superfine sugar (see note)
1 orange, halved
2 limes
1 small apple, such as Fuji or Honeycrisp, peeled and chopped
1 nectarine, chopped
1 bottle chilled sparkling wine, such as Cava, Prosecco or Champagne
1 cup lemon-lime soda, such as Sprite
A few bunches frozen grapes

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, combine the brandy, orange liqueur and sugar. Squeeze juice from one lime and one orange half into the pitcher. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Slice the remaining orange half into thin slices and add to pitcher, then add chopped apples and nectarines. Add the sparkling wine, lemon-lime soda and a large bunch of frozen grapes. Place ice cubes in glasses (do not put them in the pitcher or they'll water the drink down) along with small bunches of frozen grapes and pour sangria over top. Spoon chopped fruit into glasses, garnish with lime slices if desired and serve.
  • Note: Superfine sugar dissolves much faster than regular sugar. It is available at most supermarkets. This recipe makes a fairly sweet sangria; if you prefer it dry, use less sugar.

1 cup dry white wine
1 pkg. (8-serving size) JELL-O Lemon Flavor Sugar Free Gelatin
3 cups club soda
1 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
1 Tbsp. orange juice
3 cups seedless grapes, divided
2 cups sliced strawberries, divided
4 kiwis, peeled, sliced

Steps:

  • Bring wine to boil in small saucepan on medium-high heat. Stir boiling wine into dry gelatin mix in medium bowl at least 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in club soda, lime juice and orange juice. Place bowl of gelatin in larger bowl of ice and water. Let stand 10 min. or until slighly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites), stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in 1 cup of the grapes and strawberries. Pour into 6-cup mold sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm. Unmold. Garnish with remaining fruit.

80ml elderflower cordial
4 limes , thinly sliced into rounds

  • Put all the ingredients (except the ice, water and flowers) into two large jugs and put in the fridge for at least 1 hr to chill. Just before serving, top up with the ice and water. Pop a few edible flowers in the jug, if you like.

1 to 2 large Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored and diced

  • Add all the ingredients to a large pitcher. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 hours for the flavors to meld.
